"Hope it will help" Posted by christmasmomtobe 9 July at 18:44
Hi, I am a midwife and I hope that this will help. Planned csection are normally booked for around 38 weeks to avoid you to go into labour and having to do an emergency one. They normally get you to arrive early morning to prepare you (an advice, be shaved as it is not very nice for you to have it done by someone else). After surgery you will stay a minimum of 3 days in hospital and expect it to be tough as you won't be able to do much with your baby the first day or so. Even if csection seems like an easier option, recovery is much harder than with an normal delivery. But having your baby will be the best experience ever anyway. All the best xxx

"Thank you" Posted by babygirlhall 10 July at 12:04
Hi, Thanks for the reply, obviously im nervous about having the csection but have had alot of support from people telling me it will be ok even though very hard work. Im going to get alot of support after so that takes a huge weight of my mind. Im off to see the doc at southmead tomorrow, do you think its likely i will get a date for the csection? Also if baby is born a few weeks before full term what size is he likely to be, so far he is growing beautifully and all measurements are normal although im carrying extra fluid but no one has really explained what this means? At 33+ wks was 8.5 and at 35+ wks i had 11? Should i be worried?
Thank you x

"Not to worry" Posted by christmasmomtobe 10 July at 16:30
Hi, You should get a date tomorrow for your section. A average size baby at term (37-40 weeks) is between 3 and 3.5 kilos (sorry I only know kilos). So even if your baby is born a couple of weeks early you are still at term so you can expect a baby of average size. Except if you are a tiny mum or a larger mum... Regarding your extra fluid (called polyhydramnios), the measurement you are giving me are still normal so I don't think that there is any problem. Do not worry and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. xx

"Hope so!" Posted by babygirlhall 10 July at 18:34
I really do hope i get a date tomorrow because then i can really start planning for it. Good to know that my baby will still be a healthy size, and as for the extra fluid...i guess you are right and its nothing to worry about or they would have made a bigger deal of it before now. I just cant help but worry!
Thank you x

"Better than pushing??" Posted by lauraellen 6 July at 20:29
Iv not had a csection but have spoke to friends that have, one had to have an emergency csection and couple of years later a natural birth she said she Would opt 4 Csection every time! she was kept in hospital for a week and it did take longer to heal as they cut through your stomach muscles but to then go through with natural birth she said Csection was better and less painful over all. Another friend agreed and they both have tiny scars so i wouldnt worry x x
