"5 weeks and a little worried"
Posted by tiggy25 7 July  at  00:03

Hi,

Im 5 weeks pregnant, im very excited but worried at the same time as lots of friends/family are saying its early stages and anything could happen.

I went to the doctors last week who confirmed my pregnancy (although I did 6 clearblue home test which all showed positive) My doctor was quite dismissive and also said that a high chance of miscarrage could happen within 12 weeks.

I asked him lots of other questions but he seemed unable to answer them, all he said is that he will now refer me to a midwife who will be in contact shortly. He diddnt know how long before a midwife gets in touch, he diddnt know how i go about getting a prescription redemption form ( he had to leave the room & ask someone) he diddnt seem to know much at all.

Has anyone else had this??? Im left feeling very confused. Im sick with worry about misscarage as im only 5 weeks (this will be my first)

Can anyone tell me how long before a midwife gets in touch?

When do I have my first scan to see if the baby is ok?

Are there any other tests that should be done?

(sorry for going on)

Tiggy x

Hi there Tiggy,

like you I am 5 wks ( well on Wed 11th ) when reading your post it seemed to mirror my own concerns. I have done 3 tests and I still cannot belive it, have even kept one test and I still keep checking it, which is madness I know.

I have made an appt with my GP for this Friday, have got several questions to ask and will no doubt completly bombard the poor guy, hee hee.

I presume all the backache and abdo pains are normal and all part and parcel of being pregnant.

If you need a little chum to compare aches and pains with or to air your concerns please don't hesitate to give me a shout as I too am a little scared !!!

kind regards

George =^..^=

Change your doctor darlin. If there aren't any other doctors at your surgery, change because you need someone you can trust and rely on because your doctor will be there for you th whole way through your pregnancy. Ask a pharmacist about prescription redemption because they should know. The midwife will get in contact as soon as he/she can, just don't worry about it. The more you worry and stress yourself out, the worse it'll be for baby. Just sit back, relax, take it easy and look on websites. I didnt have my first scan until 15 weeks and my by is really healthy. The more you look after yourself, the better it is for baby. Just eat well, do some gentle excerise and don't stress and you'll be fine. You'll get a blood test as well, but your midwife will explain everything. Just stay calm!

Hope I helped x

THIS IS A NORMAL RESPONSE DOCS ARE NOT CONCERNED ABOUT SEEING YOU UNTIL YOU ARE FURTHER ON I HAD A BOOKING IN APPOINTMENT WITH MY GP AT 9 WEEKS AND SHE WAS GREAT SAW MIDWIFE AT 13 WEEKS SO NOT MUCH HAPPENS UNTIL THEN. MISCARRIAGE CAN HAPPEN BUT DON'T DWELL ON IT IF YOU ARE FEELING OKAY THEN I AM SURE YOU ARE. YOUR GP SHOULD START TO FILL IN FORMS FOR PRESCRIPTION EXCEMPTION ETC BUIT MOST ARE RELUCTANT AT 5 WEEKS MAKE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH A DIFFERENT DOC.
GOOD LUCK U B FINE
