| Thread started by: | "Dilemma - need some advice please..." Posted by honey2729 10 July at 15:31
I'm nearly 7 weeks pregnant and have just moved house. I phoned up my doctor's surgery to get an appt to see my GP (to inform him of my pregnancy), whilst i was on the phone to the receptionist i informed her of my new address and it looks like i now full outside the catchment area for my surgery. I was still allowed to go ahead with the appt but she did emphasise that i would need to register with a local practice in my area. At such a crucial time in my life I really don't fancy the thought of having to register with a new practice since i've been with my doctor since birth. Plus i'm now wondering if i will be wasting my doctors time going ahead with this appt if i have to register with another practice anyway?!
Any advice greatly appreciated. Confused. x

Hey Honey,
Me again!
I was in same dilemna as you although i moved counties...granted i did move when i was 14 weeks pregnant but i am just using my mums address as 'my home' and still having the baby as originally planned. I did this for the same reasons i was familiar with the doctors etc etc and felt more comfortable.
Do what you consider is best - is it far for you to travel?

I was considering on doing the same, still using my mum's address, but then it occurred to me that letters etc will still be delivered there and i know how nosey she can be - hence the other thread i posted re doc's/midwives letters.
My doc's is only about a 10 min drive away, so not far at all to travel. In an ideal world it would be great to still use my doctor's but be able to change my address on their systems...even if its just till the birth.
I'll soon find out tomorrow. Thanks again for the advice, you're a star!
