"Early pregnancy scan at 6 weeks"
Posted by tiggy25 11 July  at  12:47

Hi,

4 Days ago I had some light spotting (nothing since) but I have been getting lots of brown disscharge for the past 3 days. Ive also had a "light" ache/pain over my right overy.

So far today no disscharge is showing (keep checking)however I went to my doctors this morning and told him all this and he said its best not to leave anything to chance and has now booked me at 8am tomorrow morning to go to the hospital for an early prgnancy scan.

Im only 6 weeks pregnant today! would they be able to see anything this early or hear a heart beat? I thought you can only see/here any of this from 7/8 weeks onwards.

Any help/advice would be great

Thanks

I am 7 weeks pregnant but just having brown discharge with slight pain over right side like I have done for ages, it took me 5 months to conceive, could I have problems with my right overy, whats the brown discharge? to make it worse my youngest daughter now has chicken pox, so I am PARANOID! just had blood tests to see If I am immune to it but now I got all this brown watery discharge Whats going on?? also just had a swab to see if I have an infaction, anyone else had an infection?
"Try not too worry"

Hi there

I know it is easier said than done but try not to worry. I am sure everything will be fine and it is best to get these things checked out.

I had an early san at six weeks although I wasn't bleeding I had a sharp pain in my right lower tummy and went in for an examination. They ended up giving me a scan I think the main reason they wanted to check me out is to rule out ectopic pregnancy.

At the six week scan all they were able to see was the gestational sac and yolk sac and this confirmed that the pregnancy was in the womb and not the fallopian tube. Everyone is different and you may see the heartbeat (especially if they do a vaginal scan) if not they might ask you to come back a week later. (a lot happens in a week) I went back at eight weeks and saw a little blob with a heartbeat - it was lovely and very reassuring. Try not to worry - your bleeding is probably just implantation bleeding. My pain turned out to be a cyst in my right ovary bursting which was fine and causes no harm to the baby. I am now 12 weeks and have my 12 week scan on Saturday.

Sounds as if your doctor is a really good doctor. I am sure you will feel much better after the scan tomorrow.

Good luck and let me know how you get on.

Helen xx
