Hi everyone, I am completely new to this board, but need some help. I found out yesterday that I am pregnant. I am only 4 weeks gone, so still in the very early stages. The reason I found out so soon was because I was rushed to A & E with stomach pains. I had blood taken (which was fine) and had a scan as they think there is a possibility of an ectopic preganacy. As I am so early, nothing showed on the scan, so I have to wait another 2 weeks before I have another one to find out. The pain is much better today (it was on the bottom right hand side just by the pant line and going across to the middle of my belly) and I feel fine other than rather nauseous. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I am very anxious and could do with some advice!
Thanks everyone

Hi J
First of all congratulations!!!
I too went up to A&E when I was six weeks pregnant because I had pain at the lower right hand side of my tummy. It was light a stabbing pain and sometimes took my breath away. I knew I was pregnant.
They examined me and took my blood - checking for the Hcg hormone that pregnanat women have and then when they found out my levels were high said they would do a scan. I was just under six weeks but it was too early to see the baby but the scan showed the gestational sac and the yolk sac so it ruled out ectopic pregnancy as the pregnancy was in the womb and not the tube. My pain was caused by a cyst which had grown and burst in my ovary. As soon as it had burst the pain gradually went and it does not harm you or the baby.
I had to go back at eight weeks and sure enough there was a little blob showing on the scan with a heartbeat at 165bpm, which is very healthy!
I am now 12 weeks and have my 12 week scan this Saturday - which I can't wait for.Just want to see this little one again so I can stop worrying!
I am sure you will be fine and in two weeks you are bound to see something and sometimes even a heartbeat can be detected via vaginal scan. Every pregnancy is different. Keep an eye on those pains though and if they get worse go straight back up the hospital.
Hope this helps - in the mean time take it easy

Hi helen
Thanks for your message. I have a gut feeling all will be fine, I have major problems with my bowels around that area anyway as I have IBS so it may be that. They did do an internal scan too, and there were no cysts etc on the ovaries. Its just the waiting thats a nightmare, I want to celebrate and be happy, but theres this cloud in the way! It also doesn't help that I am very emotional too
Thanks for your advice - congratulations for you too, and I hope all goes well with your preganancy!
Love Jem xxx
