heyy .. i live in the usa and it is done routinely between 35-37 weeks. It is a bacteria in the vagina and they say 7 out of 10 women carry it but it has no effect on the women or their partners. Its just that when the baby comes through the canal they can catch the bacteria and get sick. If your positive though no worries because all they do is put an antibiotic in your IV and everything goes fine.hope i helped .. love danielle xo

i was told i had to pay privatly if i wanted it, got a swab taken yesterday,for free, my pal got it 10 years ago and almost lost her little girl, i think women should get the swab as the doc told me 30% of women are carriers.
