I know that going through Labour is not easy at all but the thing is its the one thing at the back of my mind.Should i wait i keep thinking to my self. But i really want a baby but i really dont cope with pain or blood silly i know.Just wondering really what the best pain releife you have ever had.I have been told that having an eperdrial is really good coz it numbs the body from the waist down.

hiya im 24 and pregnant with my 3rd baby due in october, i had my first baby when i was just 17 and had a 48 hour labour with no pain releife and my second child when i was 19 using gas and air. all i would say is everyone is different and if it is something that is really affecting your choice as to having a baby i would suggest an epidural. im not saying childbirth dint hurt like hell cause it does but if it was really that bad or not worth it we would all have one child only. having a baby is the most wonderful experiance a woman can ever have in her lifetime and i think its normal for first time mums to be to be scared of labour as you dont know what to expect but i say go for it girl have as much pain relife as you can get your hands on and enjoy being a mummy!!!
"Pain relief"

I had an epidural, and it does completely take the pain away. Pethadine was good too, you still feel the pain, i can;t remember if its eased it at all, but its makes u feel pissed, and u don;t really care about the pain. Gas and air didn;t work for me, it made me sick. I also tried getting in pool, which was really nice to start off with, very relaxing, but when the contractions really kick in, i didnt find it helped much. With the epidural though, i think they have to tell u when to push, as u cant feel when contractions are coming. I ended up having to have emergency c section, so not completely sure how epidural effects your pushing

I had gas and air and pethadine (wanted epidural but not enough staff) g&a and pethadine don't exactly take away the pain but get you doped up so you kinda don't care about the pain. I can't really remember much about it but I remember thinking it wasn't as bad as I'd imagined. My friend had an epidural and it only worked on half of her so only her left side was numb so they're not perfect. It is soooooooooooo worth any amount of pain, and the second it's over you forget. I would go through it a thousand times just to see my little boys face that first time. It's really not so bad.

I'm scared as hell and I cant go back now! Water births ease the pain (apparently) and there's loads available to help ease the pain. Getting numbed is only ok if you don't mind needles. Just remember, it's all worth it in the end.
