"Midwife couldn't hear the heartbeat at 12+3"
Posted by lin2409 17 July  at  10:54

i had a midwife app yesterday and she couldn't find the heartbeat. Total panic. She spent ages trying to find it, then sent me to hospital for a scan. One long hour later and was called in to find my baby jumping about, kicking legs and waving arms around. this was the reason for her not being able to find it.
the sonographer said they shouldn't really listen in at 12 weeks as this is quite common and it upsets many mums to be.
it felt so good to see my baby and the scan was so much better than the one i had the week before.
she even took a couple of days off my due date (24 jan)

Has anyone else experienced this?

"Trouble at 13 weeks"

hi

My MW tried to find the heartbeat at 13 weeks-ish and couldn't, I was so worried! She did tell me she was sure it was fine, but it was in the back of my mind after that. She then listened in at 16 weeks and it was loud and clear - I was so relieved!

You're due just after my birthday - January babies are the best! lol x

Hi there,

The Midwife didnt look for a heartbeat till 18 weeks.
Though I did get to see a small heartbeat at my 12 week scan, which was reasuring.

Then at 22 weeks they had real problems finding it again, but managed to after about 15 minutes!

I know how worrying it can be!

Hope yours goes well, wow a January baby! A lovely way to start the New Year!

Good Luck,
Natalie xxxxxx

my midwife couldn't hear my current baby till about 15 weeks as it tends to lie low in a morning. i wasn't particularily worries as i was still puking and knew there was a lot of room for it to hide. am now 18 weeks and she couldn't hear it last week so i was sent for a scan. it was nice to see that eveerything was fine on the screen.
"Midwife couldnt find my babys either at 14wks 4 days!"

Hi.

How scary for you.

Midwife couldn't find mine at 14 weeks and 4 days...but she just told me not to worry and it may just be too early.....of course i worried!!!.... and went straight home and ordered a doppler!
My partner found the heartbeat straight away with it. so that was very reassuring!

At least you know everything is okay now and you got to see your little one again.

My due date by the 1st day of my last period was 14th Sept but after my 12 wk scan they moved it forward aswell. It's now 9th Sept....less than 8 weeks to go....whoop whoop!

What a lovely way for you to start the new year.

Best of luck x
