Hi all

Just been recommended by consultant that I have a c-section, wont go into the ins and outs of it but problem is I live up two flights of stairs!!

Heard that you should avoid stairs for a while after surgery! Just wondered if anyone else has had a c section and if they found stairs a problem and if yes how long for?! please please please help!!

I had an emergency C-Section 9 weeks ago but haven;t come in contact with any stairs. I would say ask the doc.

hi, i had to have emergency c section 4 weeks ago. For the first 24 hours, while still in hospital, i couldnt get up, but was comfortable. The following day, the nurses persuaded me to try and get up, as it would help. It took me about 10 mins to get out of bed. Basically anything you do which uses your stomach muscles, will feel uncomfortable. I came out of hospital after 2 days, and once at home felt better straight away. But they advise not to lift anything over 5lb (apart from baby) for 6 weeks, don't do any house work or drive for 6 weeks. After a couple of days rest, you'll prob feel fine, and want to do normal things again....don't! You really need to rest for that 6 weeks, even if u feel like u can do anything, you'll suffer later. Stairs were ok, but walking too much hurt. Don't push yourself, a short walk will be fine, but only what u feel u can manage.
You'll be fine, just make the most of getting your friends and family to run round after you!!!

i'm actually feeling ok, but still got my boyfriend doing everything for me....what he don't know, don't hurt!! Its fine, i wasn't scared at all, well didn;t really have time to be, but its over so quickly. Just make sure you rest as much as possible after. My scar has got infected, so i'm on antibiotic at mo, seeing the nurse on thursday to see how its healing. If you've got any other questions, just ask x
