I have always been overweight. When I decided to get pregnant I started a year before and tried to do everything right. I worked out, ate better and quit drinking caffiene. I got pregnant only to find that it was ectopic. It doesn't happen often but after that I felt that no matter what I did bad things could still happen. I got pregnant again and then started taking better care of myself for my baby's sake but I wasn't as strict as before and allowed myself some luxuries like caffiene. My baby is now a health happy child who tops or exceeds the groth chart whenever I take him for chekc-ups. So what i am saying is anything could happen no matter if your overweight and don't work out or if your health. I do believe though that working out and eating better are always better for the baby so work those stomach muscles girl! I think if the muscles are stronger it might be easier for you to push out the baby when you have one.

Hi there,
As I'm currently ttc I've spent the last year or so trying to get my body as healthy and ready for pregnancy as I can. This involved changing my diet by eating healthier and doing more exercise.
I have a question about stomach muscles and was wondering what everyone elses experiences have been. I am not overweight, but my tummy is slightly flabby compared to the rest of my body. I don't have very strong stomach muscles and was wondering whether it was better to have stronger stomach muscles so that your body will recover better once you've had the baby or whether it is better to let nature take its course. Reason I ask is I had a friend who never did any exercise but also wasn't overweight and after she had her 2 kids her stomach was in pieces. One doctor wrongly diagnosed a hernia whereas it was actually her stomach muscles had torn so badly they were not holding her 'insides' in properly (sorry if tmi). So she went private and had a tummy tuck where they tied her stomach muscles back together.
I'm worried this will happen to me as my stomach muscles aren't great or whether I should work really hard to make them stronger.
Sorry if this is a weird question but it's been bothering me for a while and I feel I have prepared my body in every other way for the baby and am worried that I have not prepared myself for such a change in my body.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
