"I think....." Posted by heyrhona1 30 August at 09:36
its an entirely individual decision, i found out with all of my pregnancies, with my 1st son i wanted to know cos i was sure i was having a girl and was glad when they told me it was a boy so i had plenty of time to adjust, with my 2nd son i found out so i could tell his older brother what he was going to have and let him buy lil things for the baby and feel part of it, with this baby (19wk+5 days) , we found out at a private sexing scan at 18 weeks, purely cos we were just soooooooo excited and i had a pretty traumatic 1st trimester with bleeding that i wanted to know my baby was ok and see it on screen again!! i am having another boy lol its great my 2 sons are over the moon as is my other half and it hasnt taken any magic away from the birth, altho we know what he is and have a name we still havent met this lil person yet
good luck and if u do decide to find out let us all know lol as u can tell im nosey thats why i found out lolol

well with my first pregnancy we had to find out as we had £300 to buy everything and we didnt want to get it wrong by buying things we couldnt use for either sex (if that makes sense)
with my second and third we had no choice as they both decided to flash their bits at the sonographer and you couldnt exactly not notice that your sons were flashing them selves (little exhibitionists) now im 15 weeks pregnant with number 4 and again for the sake of my daughter (who so desperately wants a sister she has asked me to swap it if its another boy) we will find out again, not only that but my best friend had a boy recently and my big sister had a girl at the same time and they both offered their outgrown baby clothes, they both live other side of the country and i will need to know so they can arrange to bring them over
personally either way i dont mind what we have as long as its healthy, we already have names for both so i really really dont mind
much love Leitia xx

"We didn't" Posted by ellie223 28 August at 19:40
We decided to wait until the big day to find out if we're having a boy or girl (hoping it will give me incentive for the last push if labour is really hard! LOL)
Our nursery is yellow and green - so will be ok for either - only 10 weeks to go now!! If you do decide not to find out make sure you tell the sonographer just in case they give hints!!

Still not sure - I surpose it would make it feel more real. I forget I am pregnant a lot of the time and find it difficult to associate my big tummy with a real person!

"To find out or not" Posted by kazza292 28 August at 15:49
Hi im Karen and im also having my 20 week scan on Friday!! I have decided not to find out For me its like having your christmas presents early and i know i would regret it if i knew before the birth. Also i think its really nice for the dad to have the surprise with you and then he can go off and tell everyone the news (and i really think all relatives and friends will be excited awaiting the news of if its a boy or girl), more so than if they already know the sex. I know it will be tempting to ask on Friday but im just going to keep reminding myself that i really want the ultimate surprise at the birth.

"I did!" Posted by staceymy 28 August at 15:45
hi there i had my scan last tuesday. we all thought i was having a boy. at the last minute we changed our minds to find out. when the sonographer tried to look she was only 70% sure it was a girl! i knew bump would try and cover her self up! we are still decorating neutral. i thought it would take the excitment away but it hasent. am more excited than ever! its your decision. let us no what you decide and good luck. stacey n 21+4wk bump.

"I wouldn't!" Posted by poshbosh 28 August at 15:37
Enjoy having a suprise - you can get stuff you need that is fine for either sex and then by keeping the room fairly neutral you can accessorise with a boy/girl theme after they have arrived!
Thats what my hubby and i have decided anyway!

I would be torn too, on the one hand there's the practicality of it, so you can already buy clothes, decorate the nursery, etc... but then on the other hand there is no surprise. I don't know what I'd do (sorry this is not helping)

"I am having a boy!" Posted by clairefea 28 August at 15:41
Hi,
I had my 20 weeks can last week and we found out that we are having a boy. It was really strange because I could see myself on the scan screen what sex the baby was. It was really clear!
