I had a miscarriage 4yrs ago,i'm now 28wks preggers. And i got myself a doppler this time as like you i wanted to put my mind at rest.Thankfully i've had no problem finding the heartbeat,if i did then i do think it would make me worry, and stress. But now he's moving around all the time i very rarely use it,my son uses it more to listen to his heartbeat. And if i had another baby i would certainly use it again.

Hi,

I'm 13 weeks and have had a previous miscarriage, i have also now had 2 bouts of bleeding and each time i have gone to the hospital and had a scan they tell me all is ok, i am now thinking of buying one of those dopplers, if i then have another bout of bleeding i can check the babys heartbeat and it will hopefully put my mind at rest, my mum and few of my friends (who dont have kids) have said that they dont think its a good idea as i may not be able to hear the heartbeat as the baby may not be in the right position and then i will stress out even more....any advice out there as i'm torn! x

hi there. i got a doppler when i was 14wks. i also had a miscarriage. it took me a while to find the heartbeat at first but it does get easier once you know what it sounds like.

i am now 23+2wks and i dont use it as much now that i can feel bump. i used it this morning tho and she was trying to kick it off! lol!

i got mine off ebay. its one of those early ones that can detect heartbeat from 10/12wks. you can also hear hiccups and the placenta.

good luck with your pregnancy.

"Just borrowed one"

Hi
I'm 20wks + 6 and as previously stated they're only recommended for 21+ wks. I've borrowed one and I can only hear Bean moving around and punching/kicking etc which is cool but I cannot hear heart beat at all. I can hust about hear my own!
They're not as good as midwives ones and they may cause you more concern if you don't hear anything.
Saying that I've not miscarried so it maybe of use to you?

Hi there,

I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant and have had bleeds regularly throughout.I've had 6 scans so far and each time it showed baby doing just fine. I bought my doppler off ebay at around 15 weeks and I wouldn't be without it now. My most recent bleed was on Wednesday and as soon as I could I got my doppler out and found baby straight away....such relief...It's worth every penny of the £35 it cost me. No one can tell me why I keep bleeding, they just say "it's quite common"...doesn't make you feel any better though!! Just out of interest did you have irregular perids before you got pregnant? It's just that I have PCOS and an extremely irregular cycle and was just wondering if the bleeding is connected in anyway.
I have always managed to find baby's heartbeat even if it's taken me 5 minutes or so, the heart is still so small so it's not always easy to locate!
All the best, try not to worry but yes....go get that doppler...it'll stop you worrying so much....it did for me!!!!
take care
