"Overdue, head not engaged, doctors dont want to know"
Posted by yanryu 1 September  at  15:08

hi,

I'm slightly concerned about my baby as i'm due on the 2nd september and her head still isn't engaged. I saw my doctor the other day ( as the midwife was unavaliable) she said that i should have an appointment at the hospital for if i went past my EDD by 3 days at the most, but i had nothing. She said to phone my midwife but she was off duty so i phoned the hospital who gave me an appointment for 7 days after my EDD! I then phoned my doctor who said that wasn't soon enough and i should cause a fuss to get seen sooner but the hospital says that they only see you after 7 days.

I'm just so confused and upset as i don't know who is right, no one told me what to do and i feel as if i'm all alone with a baby who might not come out by herself.

Can someone tell me if this is normal practise or not?

steph

that the head doesnt always engage untill labour starts.if you go ver your due date by 10 days= they will induce you but anyway good luck.

I was in the same position as you this time last year and I went exactly 2 weeks over. The only way we could get my baby to move down was by breathing. I delivered naturally, on my side. Some how my little one preferred this. Try not to worry. you've probably had her now any way x

they allow you to go over by 14days before they induce you. try walking around as this help baby move down in to the birth cannel.and i was also adviced by my midwive that sex is a good way to help labour get started. If you are still concerned contact the hospital and say that your not happy and really want to see some one

let me know how you get on

Only two years ago, my daughter was 17 days late! but i was prepared to go to three weeks. My doctors tried VERY hard to persuade me to induce alot earlier. From 7 days overdue i was having daily monitoring sessions and as long as her heartbeat was ok and she wanted to stay there, i was happy to let her decide when she wanted to make an appearence. Don't worry too much, your baby will know when the time is right to be born, he/she just might not be 'cooked' enough yet!
