hi everyone how are you. im 29 and a half wks pregnant with my second baby, I have had alot more problems this time around from constant bleeding until 13 wks through major aches and pains. im hoping to be referred to physio in the next couple of wks to see if that can help at all.
Im looking forward to bringing baby home though and cant wait to the time comes.
Bit worried bout labour had a bad experience with my daughter, and after she was born they found group b strep on her body so had to stay in hospital while they put antibioitics through her.
If there is anyone out there who also has group b strep i would love to hear any knowledge that you know to help me i have some leaflets but my midwifes not 100% sure on what happens when you go into labour as far as i know as soon as i know im in labour i have to go straight to hospital, i think anyway.
look forward to talking some more
jen and bump xx

I too am a GBS carrier, my 2nd son contracted GBS meningitis but thankfully he is all good now.

I have been told that this time when i go into labour i will be given IV Anti-biotics for at least 2 hours during labour and then baby will be swab tested for any signs for 24 hours...however if im not in labour for the 2 hours needed (which is more than likely as i have very quick labours) then the Baby will be given IV anti-biotics and swab tested for 48 hours.

There doesnt seem to be much in the way of support for us GBS carriers and DR's/MW's etc dont seem to know much about it either
if there is anything else you want to know just PM me on here and ill do my best to help you, I was starting to feel like i was alone out there as a GBS carrier.

take care and gratz on the pregnancy
much love

my aunty has strep b. she didnt know with her first. she had her second baby last december but cos she took castor oil to set her off, she had a quick labour. they didnt have time to give her the antibiotics. so baby had to stay in hospital on a drip for a few days. shes now pregnant with number 3 due november! i think she said that they have to give you antibiotics for a couple of hours during labour.
she is certinatly not setting herself off this time even tho it was very quick!

take care n g'luck
