"Non contact exercise" Posted by kerry120 22 September at 20:27
Hi ladies like alot of you i enjoy sport had to give up kickboxing for awhile for obvious reasons and i would stop football now if i was you i know its hard and you probably won't want to but its a bit to physical. I spoke with a fitness instructor and she said keep up the cardio and reduce the weights and don't do any pulling down from above the head like lat pull downs etc. I naturally stopped running due to breasts hurting and swapped it for cross trainer and exercise bike. Good luck with all your pregnancies xxxxxxxxxxx

"Exercise during pregnancy" Posted by kate1332 20 September at 17:32
Hi,
Just a quick note to say thank you so much for your replies. I will definitely give up the footy for now and stick to light jogging and swimming. Am sorry about your scares and really hope everything turns out well for all of us. I guess the worrying about being a parent has started already!

"Hope this helps" Posted by i007sam 19 September at 21:39
Hiya Kate,
My name's Sophie and i'm a personal trainer who is 13wks+3 with my 2nd.
It would be a good idea to stop the footie for now, Swimming is great, If you still want to do running do it at a slower pace and maybe take your time down too. Most of all listen to your body. You'll need to take on more water when training. If you train in a gym you can use the X-trainer & some light weights.
Good Luck
Sophie & unknown(13wk+3)XxX

"Hi kate!" Posted by newbie16 19 September at 21:37
Hi ya Kate! I'm exactly like you - I love exercise and it makes me feel good to work out and keep active. But I was taught a lesson on Sunday.
I am a keen runner and also love ladies football. I used to run 30 miles a week and so I cut it down to 20. I am also a teacher and work damn hard through the day. But no one could give me any advice as I wouldn't listen! (I was determined to keep up my running!)
Silly me! On Sunday whilst out for a light jog - and I mean light I had a horrible scare and lost a lot of blood. After 24 horrible hours of tests and waiting for a scan, I finally found out my 10 week old foetus is fine!
I have been told to give up any high impact sports and to rest! I am now searching the net for yoga and pilate DVDs (much to my dislike of these!) I guess what i'm trying to say is we have to lose some control in order to keep the bump as safe as possible. Do you like swimming? I'm terrible at it but it has been suggested I go to antenatal areobic classes at the local pool! It's so hard to give it up but like you, I posted a message 2 weeks ago about exercise. Little did I know i'd have that horrible scare! Lots of love and i'd love you to share what exercise you plan to do - it might help me too! Newbie16 x x

"Exercise and pregnancy!" Posted by careyrunner 20 September at 01:32
Hey all,
I am a jogger (i wouldnt say runner as i am pretty slow) i.e. 5 km in 30-35 min pre-pregnancy. i was pretty nervous about continuing with exercise as i had two miscarriages prior to this pregnancy one at 10 weeks and other at 5.
I am almost 22 weeks and have finally decided to walk/hike now instead of running. I went for my last 5 km trail run last sunday. My doc just said to be mindful of heartrate and be sure to take in lots of extra fluids.
I am also looking into prenatal yoga. I like to swim too but our local pool is under repairs of course. let me know if you come up with any good videos.

Take care and good luck with exercise.
