Whilst i do agree it was totally thoughtless of them to smoke, i also think you have to remember that it wasn't your house - so they maybe they felt if you weren't comfortable with the smoke then you would have left or something?
i don't know... just playing devils advocate i guess.
I like to think of my self as a thoughtful smoker when i do smoke, and never smoke in the house anyway and I wouldn't have done that, but some people just aaren't that clued up when it comes to their smoke!
I guess if it worries you unfortunately it is down to you to remove yourself from the situation?

i dont know if its me just being narky (the pregnancy is making me very much like that) but has anyone else found some smokers really ignorant??? i have avoided smokey places all through my pregnancy (which was made easier by the ban), my mum smokes and so does a lot of my family but they have never smoked around me since i found out i was expecting, last night i went to see a work colleague which couldn't rally be avoided, there were two other girls there from work too, they all know im pregnant (its pretty hard to miss now) yet they all sat in this tiny room with me all smoking...it was horrible! i didnt feel i could say anything as everyone is free to do what they like in thhere own house but i thought it was really ignorant! when i came away i absolutely stank of smoke and i felt so guilty on my little baby! anyway i feel better after all that...if you're a smoker sorry i dont mean to offend xxx

I totally agree with you huni, i used to smoke but as soon as i found out i stopped and now the smell of it totally turns my stomach. I get angry at people who like to pass everybody there second hand smoke in the street. You will be happily walking along then all of a sudden your hit with a plume of somebody elses smoke eeww!

Hi, I fully agree with Leitia. I was a smoker and I would never have smoked in front of someone pregnant.
Your friends have no excuse - I'm sure they should have been more considerate and smoked in another room or outside.

Heya Lynni,
I am a smoker, i have managed to cut down to 5 a day (from 20 a day) and slowly that is going down till eventually i will stop and the sooner the better, unfortunately i wasn't strong enough to just be able to stop.
However as a smoker i know how ignorant smokers can be, i dont smoke in the house anyway, but i also wouldn't dream of smoking round someone who didn't smoke specially if they were pregnant, out of respect for them.
But i also know just how hard it is to give up smoking, i know what it is doing to my baby and i hate myself everytime i have a ciggarette, In my life i have been able to give up Drugs, i have been able to give up Alcohol, but giving up smoking is the hardest yet.
You have every right to be angry about the way they treated you hun, you have nothing to say sorry for. much love Leitia xx
