| Thread started by: | "Private scan coz doc says i am over worrying after mc" Posted by lisamerchant86 25 September at 15:49
ealier i posted this hey, just been to docs as i am worried about mc again. she wasn't helpful. i am 6 weeks gone. i had pain in my side since weekend and really wanted a scan to see if the heartbeat was there. what i got told is that i am just over worring after my mc and that i should think possitive, easlier said then done and also i have age on my side and there's always a next time. all i wanted was reasurance, now i am really upset. my brother in law's girlfriend, gets one at the slightest thing and she had one at 6 weeks to make sure everything was ok (no bleeding no pains, she just wanted to make sue) and she's never mc and already has a 3 year old son. so i cant understand why i am worried and had a mc that i dont get the reasurance i am needing, thinking about find a private hospital to get the scan, i dont care how much is it as long as i know the wee 1 is safe and healthy. i have decided to go for a private scan and thats going to cost 65 pounds but whats money when you get told the baby is going to be safe or not. The doctor who will do this said my doctor shouldnt have said what she said and that he is more then happy to d this for us. thanks for listening

I think that's awful to say, there's always next time etc. how can the doctor say that especially to someone whos suffered a mc before. I would have thought you should be on a priority for an early scan. I had one at 9 weeks, currently 16+1, because i had bleeding from my womb and although they offered me one straight away if they hadn't i would have complained. I would def go for the private scan if your worried, it'll be worth it to put your mind at rest, good luck

You could complain to the practice n say you felt you were treated unfairly, they may not do anything now but at least you will have made your point and then you can move somewhere else

I know how you feel. I'm 32 and suffered a mc with my first pregnancy last June. I'm now currently 35 weeks with a little boy. I asked for an early scan as I found out I was pregnant at about 5 weeks. I was told that as I had only had 1 mc then I wouldn't even be considered for one. I needed to have had at least 3 before I could get 1 on the NHS.
I paid for a private scan (£70) from Leeds Screening Services and they were great. I heard his heartbeat and everything. If you can afford it, it's definitely worth it and it put my mind at rest, hopefully it will do the same for you.
Take Care
Kim
