"Brother and baby sister sharing a room?"
Posted by ginaw1980 3 October  at  22:36

Hi, i have four children already, three girls aged 6, 5 and 20 months all sharing a room. then there is our son who is four and has a room all to him self, decorated bright orange with all the usual boy accessories, pics and stickers, cars, planes, spaceships you name it, a typical boy room. I am now 23 weeks pregnant with our fith, another girl. She will be sleeping in mine and my husbands room for the first 6 months for convenience as i will be breastfeeding. after that i am not sure whether to squeeze her cot into the girly room although they have no room as it is, i can not use bunks as it wouldnt be safe for my 20 month old who by that time will be 2 and a half and in a cot bed(without sides)My other option is to have the new baby share a room with her brother( he will then be 5) which he doesnt mind one bit although then he would have to compremise and have a few girly things around in there. any ideas anyone, i know i have 17 weeks left to decide but i want to get the rooms ready and the cot put up, getting bored and impatient now. any suggestions welcome

Heya hun, congratulations on the pregnancy by the way, not long to go no.
I am currently 20 weeks pregnant with number 4 i already have 1 girl and 2 boys and this one is a boy too, We are going to have the new baby in with us for the first year too then he will go in with his brothers who have the largest room in the house anyway. before we moved into the house we are in now we had a 2 bed flat and all 3 of ours had to share a room, personally if nothing else can be done then i think it's fine for them to share, it's only when they get older (10+) that it could become awkward , but by then you might be able to get bunk beds for all 4 girls (maybe) in the same room.

Like i said i wouldn't worry about it too much now as your son said he is fine with it and your baby won't know any different.

good luck with everything
much love

hi, thanks for the advice, i feel a bit better now about bunking her in with our son, i know it's a while off yet but it's nice to get prepared, i have been thinking about adding a bit of an animal theme to their room, as it's already bright orange and then it would suit both a boy and a girl, any ideas on where to get bedroom accessories from with a kind of jungly theme, everything i've seen is either for a girl, for a boy or it's brown/beige. I was looking for something bright and bold. how r u doing with your pregnancy, is everything going well? time just seems to be dragging for me now.

I shared a bedroom with my brother until I was 7 and he was 5. My dad worked from home so had the 3rd bedroom as a study. Did us no harm.

Heya hun,
i love the idea of a jungle theme like you said it appeals to everyone no matter what their sex, have a look on the babies r us web site they have a JUNGLE FEVER nursery range and mother care do some jungle chairs too for £19.99 (lion/giraffe/tiger and chimp)the other idea would be to google jungle stickarounds they could help to brighten up the room and make it more jungly, i know places like B&Q/Homebase and Wilkinsons have them so maybe try there is you can.

My pregnancy is going very well thank you for asking, im 20 weeks now and time is starting to go slowly, my little man is kicking me something wicked at the mo but it's still at the stage where it makes me smile (no bruised ribs yet lol).

good luck with everything
im here to chat if you need to
Much love

"Funny you should say that"

i was just looking through the babies r us catalog earlier with my son and he quite liked their jungle fever stuff, but then he pointed out that he wouldn't mind having a pink bedroom??? strange coming from a 4 year old boy. I think he's just desperate for someone to share his room. We're gonna have a look around homebase tommorow for some stickarounds, we got his space ones from there a while back. thinking of changing his car curtains for some plain bright black out ones. theres just so much to think about. this ones been kicking a lot too, seems to stop though when my husband wants to feel. I get kept awake buy it all night now, she sleeps more in the day. Just wait till you get the feet under your ribs lol, not all fun.
"I remember it well..."

hehe yea i remember the feet under the ribs well, when i was pregnant with my 2nd i had some massive bruises around my ribs my MW said she had never seen anything like it before, i was expecting it to be the same with my 3rd too but he didn't kick anywhere near as much, but i have a feeling that this little man is going to break some ribs when he gets big enough...hehe.

Bless your son for saying that, kids can just be the sweetest little things, my oldest Lily desperately wanted for this one to be a girl so she could share her room she was devastated when she found out it was another boy, she is finally coming round to the idea though.
Have fun at homebase tomorrow im dangerous in those places as i end up spending way too much cash.

take care
much love
