"32 weeks - what is this mucus stuff?!"
Posted by katjam1 4 October  at  10:31

Hi mums to be!

I had a small bleed on Thursday last week. Went to the hospital on Friday and they did an internal exam and a smear test. Found no reason for the bleeding and sent me home. Ever since Saturday I have had a dark brown mucus leaking from me, it's not like discharge - it's quite sticky. It's been nearly a week now. Baby still moving about as normal.

I was just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this?!

Thanks, Kat. x

hi chicky i had the exact same thing 3 weeks ago, im now 32 weeks, they thought it may have been prem labour but everything settled and i was fine,i was experiencing the brown mucus that you described and asked my midwife about it, she said its because when they do the speclum exam (the smear thing) it stretches all you muscles and unsettles everything around your cervix, so long as there is no infection found from the swabs they too then it should be fine. mine lasted just under 2 weeks, if you're worried though just give your midwife a ring.
hope that helped a bit, take care x

It sounds like you are loosing part of what they call your plug. Its nothing to worry about, it does not mean that the baby is coming now because some people loose the plug weeks before going into labour. I lost part of my plug at 38wks and three days later went into labour. If you are worried i would talk to your midwife and im sure she will be able to put your mind at ease.
Hope this helps.
