"Be careful..." Posted by beckyjuk 8 October at 14:46
I told everyone at 12 weeks. Its up to you tho. As for work, i would tel them asap. You cant be lifting heavy things and having long nights. The 1st 12weeks are so important. Please just be so careful. U will have so many rights in the employment once you tel them you are expecting. The sooner the better. Hope all goes well and CONGRATULATIONs!!! Becky and 20 week old boy bump x

"Hi" Posted by lucy10000 7 October at 09:24
congratulations! i'm 6 weeks today and have already told a few people! I told my boss as soon as the doctor confirmed it as my job involves a lot of driving which makes me very tired and also a lot of potentially dangerous situations so I wanted her to know early on so that I wouldn't feel I had to do anything I felt was unsafe. If you do chose to tell your boss they really have to respect your confidentiality and not say anything until you want them too, but i know that can be difficult sometimes when your colleagues are asking questions!!
Personally I didn't want to put myself at any unecessary risk and also wanted to scream it from the roof-tops so thats why i've told people!! I guess ultimately its up to you, if you want to wait until after the first 3 months thats your decision. Hope this helps, sorry if i've waffled on!! Take care,
Jenny xxxxx

"Thanks heaps" Posted by para1207 7 October at 15:50
Thanks for replying to me, you have both replied to my previous threads on the TTC forum which I was most grateful for then and now !!!!!
I think that I know deep down that I have to keep myself safe which does mean changing my duties early on, but I am still worrying and can't help thinking that telling early may not be good because I have always believed that getting to 12 weeks is safer !!!! It isn't always practical to do what is recommended the norm though.
I work on my own normally and I do alot of driving and never know what situation I could be faced with, so I do know I must put myself first. I would never forgive myself if anything was to happen !!!!
I am luckily, and thankfully working with another colleague until the 15th of this month on my night shifts so I am happy knowing I have some one there with me all the time. If this was all the time I know I could work a while longer without having to inform people and feel completely safe but it isnt so I have to do what is right. I can't even request to do this as I would have to say why, and as soon as my boss knows I'm pregnanct they have to change my duties anyway !!!!!
It's my first pregnancy and I'm worrying enough without the added stress of work and making my other half worry every time I leave the house to go to work.
I think I have just answered my question as to what I am going to do, HA HA !!
Thanks again for your great words, you have helped so so much xXxXxXxXxXxXx

"Hey" Posted by lisamerchant86 7 October at 18:41
I work for a caring company and do lots of driving and lifting and supporting people. As my company has been taken over in august, we dont know they new boss, i wanted to tell someone i know and trust, so chose the girl who does the rotas and asked her not to tell, which she hasnt. She has taken me off the double up runs so i cant lift and if anyone asks why i anit on it then i have pulled a mussel and the driving doesnt bother me though. Just tell one person and if anyone asks just say pulled mussel or something

"Hi there" Posted by para1207 7 October at 20:16
Nice to hear from you, how far on are you ??
I have thought about that as one of my friends works in the Rota Department and I could trust her 100%. Only problem is that I am on a dedicated unit with it's own rota and I haven't got the flexibility to move onto other duties and other rotas as it's not allowed without explaining why.
I may try and get personal swops for a few weeks if I decide I want to work for a while longer.
It's still all new to me xXxXxXx

Could you not tell you boss and your friend, just stress to your boss, you dont want folk to find out and the only reason you have told him/her is because you anit allowed to move onto other duties and you have to explain why you want to move. S/he should not tell anyone anything and due to maty laws, they have to move you to save jobs. I am about 8 weeks, not sure though as i had a mc and didnt have a period between the two pregnancies. How old are you?

i have already had my first one the sonography says i was 6 weeks (now 8) but i not sure as my sis in law was told by same person she was 7 week (now 9) but her dot was smaller then what mines was, so i think we could b about the same. They are so small that they cant be 100 per cent sure. Ask you doc what s/he thinks. Its always best to seak medical advice durning pregnancy. Hope it all goes well today

All went fine today, Doc confirmed that it is actually happening, ha ha, and calculated me to be 6+4 but my dates make me 5 weeks. I have to wait for the mid wife to contact me now before the next step. I'm hoping it isnt too long before I get to see her xXxXx

"Hi" Posted by para1207 8 October at 22:46
I'm hoping the midwife contacts me really soon, even if the appointment is a couple weeks away. I feel in limbo, really strange until the next step happens. Did you feel like that ??
I am going to tell my boss next week and get my duties changed. Its going to mean the majority of my colleagues will find out but I have to keep myself safe and be careful. Its alot earlier that I would have ideally planned but theres no need to put myself at risk when I don't have to

Yeah i never got to the midwife stage in the mc pregnancy, so having a month wait with this one has made me worry thati wouldnt get to this stage, but now she only 2 days away i feel it strange. You dont have to say its pregnancy to your colleagues, just say its a pulled mussel if you dont want folk to know apart fae your boss, tell s/he that this is what you thought of or something like that. It worked for me so it would work for you.
