i've just bought a doppler, it works perfectly fine, i am over 28wks, maybe your just to early still find it easily, fair enough i know some say from 12wks, but surely that isnt far enough along, one i've bought from 21wks, i can hear heartbeat, when has hiccups, kicks and moves. Sure work great when your further along.

"Doppler" Posted by donna001 8 October at 10:12
I bought one last week and at first couldnt find the heartbeat so I paniced as I had had a scare the previous week. A friend who used to be a nurse showed me whereabouts the baby should be lying at 18 weeks and ever since have more or less managed to locate it straight away. I have found that if I try to find it low down and then go across, it will be there somewhere if not very faintly and also press quite firmly as well. If you find you dont want to use it anymore though they do seem to get snapped up on ebay quickly!

"Don't panic!" Posted by dmc76 7 October at 23:18
Hi
I haven't bought one but when I saw my midwife at 16 weeks she checked for the heart beat. She said that if she couldn't find it it wasn't uncommon and she wouldn't do anything about it if she couldn't hear it so i think 15 weeks is quite early to be listening anyway.
I'm 27 weeks now and feel the baby move a lot. I first felt the baby at 19 weeks and this is my first. I'd say that dopplers seem great if you can get the heart beat but if not they create panic. Before long you will be reasurred by your little one moving so don't worry. Forget the doppler and enjoy this time.
Good luck Donna

"Dont worry" Posted by donnag07 7 October at 19:16
i have one and i think i have only heard the heartbeat once, I have since been to see the midwife who managed to detect the heartbeat so i'm not worried, I have now shoved my doppler into the back of the cupboard, Like you i wish i had listened to people telling me not to get one, i really do think they are a bit hit and miss! x
