"Can you have 2 false positive readings"
Posted by surprised1 10 October  at  17:27

My periods are very irregular. Didn't think I could get pregnant as a few years ago we were told my partner didn't have many tadpoles!!! Boobs hurt like hell.. I've had two tests, both show positive... do you think these can be wrong? Any advise would be grateful

2 tests....think youre having a baby!!

I did 4 all together!! I did one, and its was positive, did another one and it was positive, 3rd and 4th both positive too! I was still not 100% convinced, but they say one normally confirms it (99% accuracy apparently). Do one more and go from there. Or just go to the doctors. Must have been one of the few tadpoles that made it!
Congratulations and let us kno what happens.

To have 2 positive tests and not be pregnant would be very strange! Never heard of that before. I had to do 3 tests before i actually believed it. So hunni, i think you're pregnant, God has decided you'll be a good mother, and now you have the chance. Good luck. xx
"Time to get excited i think!!"

Congratulations chuck - I've heard it's practically unheard of to get 2 false positives.

Get to GP asap - take it easy, start your folic acid and enjoy!

you cant get a false positive, you can get false negative, and youve done 2 test so id take it as a BFP !!
ive got a friend whos been trying for 3 years and test showed that her husband had low sperm count as he has varicus vains in his dangly bits and was told very slim chance of getting preggers without help and shes just announced shes 13 wks preggers so it is posslible................it only takes one tadpole to be ok and there!!!

"Very unlikely "

Hi

I was as paranoid when i first took a test and having asked my doctor what you've asked he said it's VERY VERY VERY unlikely that you could have a wrong positive test. It's more likely to be the other way round and have a negative but you turn out to be positive. Plus if your boobs hurt also a sign.

I think congratulations is definately in order, but if you still concerned, book into see your doctor or midwife.

i wouldn't think that two tests can be wrong... i have false negatives but never false positive! maybe the tadpoles have been working extra hard for you
my boobs were the first give away sign too, i didn't even have to tell my friend i was pregnant she just said "my god you've either got a fab new bra on or your pregnant"
make an appointment with your gp and he'll probably do a test too, if you're really unsure of dates they may send you for an early scan just to date your pregnancy!
good luck and congratulations x x x
"Thank you"

Many thanks for your message. I'm just so surprised... so surprised in fact, that I'm not sure I can believe it!! I think I feel numb??!!! And I don't even know who to tell... so here I am in a chat room... I'm 37.. my parents will go bleeding crazy!! I've already got 2 boys 12 & 10.... Hey ho.. if i am pregnant, then it's meant to be.. talk about a little miracle!!
"Congratulations!"

Hi there, I am 35 and 16 weeks + 5 with my first. I did a test to prove I wasnt pregnant, got a positive, spent hours surfing the net to find out how likely it was to be wrong! Drove into town, bought another one and got another positive, then next day, bought 2 more, all positive! Sounds daft now, doing so many tests, but like you, my husband was told years ago that he would never get a lady pregnant without medical assistance, so we were both very shocked! But happy!
"Get excited!!!`"
