"6 weeks at 90% then 33 weeks at £110.00" Posted by deena15 6 November at 17:50
I'm sure you don't get 90% for 9 months as someone else said, just 90% for 6 weeks then £110.00 for 33 weeks then no pay for the remaining 13 weeks if you choose not to go back to work then. Every pregnant woman is entitled by law to 52 weeks off.
The only time this is bettered is if your company has a scheme (or you're a civil servant) but alas mine doesn't.

"Mat pay" Posted by becca2325 6 November at 18:01
Hi if you earn less than £110 a week then you will get 90% of what your weekly wages are for the full 39weeks.
I earn £95 sumit a week and my employer has told me that because it is at the lower rate i will get 90% of my wage for the full 39 weeks.
If you earn over £110 a week then you will get 90% for 6 weeks and then the £110 a week there after.
Hope this helps. xx

Hi Tina. U shouldnt, well at least i hope we dont, because £112 income is low income therefore not enough to be taxed on. If u r getting taxed on it, then u should get that tax back at some point. Maybe get in contact with inland revenue. Would be a waste of time if we do get taxed on that amount! Becky and bump x

Thank u! The taxcode may not change therefore may have to pay it until the end of the financial year and then get it back. However when there's a baby around were gonna need it there and then, not months later!! All very confusing! x x

"My empoloyers are a joke! " Posted by laura050685 2 November at 14:43
hey all, this is right about the 6week 90% 33 at SMP, iv had to look into it loads! iv been off sick since i was 22 weeks - had a car crash while at work (i work on the road and was completely not my fault!) however, after paying me full sick leave for 8 weeks, my employer wanted me to take my maternity leave early, i said no as im not off with a pregnancy related illness, so now they have put me on SSP!! can u believe it! having a baby in 5 weeks and its christmas in 7 and they put me on 70 pound a week! and then, to add insult to injury, i get taxed on that! it makes me sick! im not taking maternity leave until 2 weeks before she is born as i can claim back loss of earnings! but i think its disgusting how employer can do this! 8 weeks normal pay, then put me on SSP because i wont be bullied into taking maternity early!
sorry for rambling, it just really gets my back up! and because i have a job, im not entitled to any other benefits! noone seems to care that im not earning enough to pay the biils, let alone buy things u need when expecting!
argh! sorry and thanks all for listening!

"Hi!" Posted by beckyjuk 2 November at 14:08
U r entitled to 39 weeks pay, 6 weeks at 90% of ur wage and the remaining at £112.80 a week. U must let ur company know roughly when ur gonna start your mat leave approx 15 weeks before ur baby is due. If u have any scans or hospital visits etc, u r entitled to these off, paid! Ive looked into this quite a bit, so any other questions just ask. Hope ive helped Becky and boy bump x

cheers chick, i thought that was right but it really confused me then. i started my maternity leave on monday so hopefully my pay will be right next month, honestly my employers are soooo bad at sorting out wages its untrue, i've had a fair bit of time off sick with sick notes as i've had a lot of problems with my pregnancy and its a good job i've kept track of dates etc cos my wage has been wrong for the past 4 months! thanks for your help x x x
