| Thread started by: | "Any one else effected by really bad digestion?" Posted by louisey2 9 December at 08:37
It gets me down alot as i have whole nights of feeling ill just because of what i ate. I dont eat too late (dinner at 6) and a very small portion but sometimes i just get really bad bouts of 'bad guts', food can repeat on me for about 12 hours or more after i have eaten it!! I obviously have discovered that i cant eat curry and greasy foods, cabbage and some green vegies! but its getting ridiculus now.I am now scared of eating most of the time! Fed up of feeling ill.I'm now 19 weeks..god i hope i am not like this all the way through!! Needed a moan xx

Heya hun,
i kinda know what you mean, im suffering from indigestion so badly at the mo and nothing seems to be helping it, i have tried Gaviscon, Rennies and milk and water mixed, but nothing seems to be soothing it, it feels like my esophogus (sorry for the spelling) is on fire, and it's getting to the stage now where im too nervous to eat anything too, as i know that in 5 mins it will just be causing me pain, it doesn't matter how mild the food is either, don't think i can put up with this for another 10 weeks.
I hope it gets better for you soon hun and i hope the rest of the pregnancy is going well for you much love Leitia & Baby R(29+5)

HI there, Sorry to hear about your discomfort. I'd go to the GP and he will prescribe you some antacids. I have a heitus hernia and suffer from tummy problems anyway so the pregnancy is making it worse. I take empersole tablets once a day and this puts my heartburn away. Also, as Leitia said there are a number of other remedies available over the counter too. I'd also eat little and often ( I eat well but make sure it's 5 small meals a day as this helps with the digestion and the gut).
But because you are really suffering I would see my GP. Hope you feel better soon! Newbie + Bump 21+2 x

Thanks for your replies, i have been to my GP quite a few times and he just says that not many medicines are fully tested 'safe' for pregnancy but if i feel really sick then i can take the odd promethazine (phenergan) I have tried Rennies/gaviscon which only help very slightly and milk upsets my tum even more! I am trying Actimel at the moment just in case i have an inbalance in my guts! Its good to have a moan now and again on this site because people can understand what it is like :+)

Im also suffering quite terrible at the moment with heartburn, ive been taking gaviscon and it has been helping superbly, but now i seem to be taking it alot more and it dosnt settle for long either.Im also out of breath allday long now, even by just getting up and walking to the kitchen! also having alot of tummy aches after eating anything which is getting me down,i will be honest and say im not enjoying pregnancy anymore, got another 13 weeks to go..
Hope the Actimel works for you,my mum takes it all the time and swears by it.I really feel for you if you have it this bad so early on!
Take care
Joanna & 26+5 bump
