My mom was 10 days over due wit my sissy and the doctor told her she was to stressed out to have the baby and just to go home get a six pack of beer (not bad if only a little alchol because it relaxes the muscles!!!) And within the next day she was in labor!!!! Maybe call your doctor and ask if you should try that trail!!!!

I'm 8 days overdue today with my fitrst and feeling a bit down as they're threatening to induce me on Wednesday although i have a hosp appt tomorrow and I am going to put my foot down and demand a few days extra, at least until I'm 14 days overdue.
I haven't had a show and the odd twinges that I get end up being wind (sorry tmi). I really want my planned home water birth so am hoping that something happens soon.

I'm feeling a bit fed up today, anyone else overdue?

Thanks for all your replies ladies, I'm now 10 days overdue and at the hospital yesterday they said my cervix is closed so i'm obviously not ready yet. They also agreed to push my induction date back to Friday 21st so that gives me a few more days to labout naturally (fingers crossed). Me and the bubs are totally well and healthy, Im going in for monitoring tomorrow and they're going to attempt another sweep (the last 3 have failed due to the cervix being completely closed). I got hubby to put eveing primrose oil capsules up there last night as they're suppossed to contain prosaglandins which will help the cervix to dilate, so not sure if thats done anything yet though.

I'm nearly 38 weeks and fed up all ready so I can apreciate how fed up you must be. If there is no medical reason for you to be induced then you don't have to be threatened in to it. They have to respect your wishes. You are entitled to refuse induction and ask for enhanced monitoring and there is nothing they can do to make you so long as you feel this is right and an informed choice. I had a friend who went 43+5 over due and had a water birth at home! No problems at all. Obviously there are risks so make sure you ask all the questions and do your research but don't be bullied into anything, It's your birth, your body and your baby.

P.S Have you tried pineapple?

dont get pushed into it if its not what you want i went 9 days over with my son (he was my first) he did come in the end but i had a sweep and it was 2 days before my planned inducton. if bubs is fine i dont see why you should be poked and prodded for no reason. do you feel well? have they given you a sweep? also theres a massage oil that makes the uterus contract so go to your local herbalist and buy some if you tell em your desperate they might knock you some money off.
then have sex and get cleaning or jogging or summat annoy little one and things might get going. good luck hun xxx

i was asking my midwife for advice to kick start y sister off shes 38 weeks and asked about the pinapple she said its not the big pinapple its those little ones and you have to eat about 7 for it to have any effect BUT it also acts as a laxative but basically anything that will get your bowels moving will help just wouldn't like to be on the recieving end of the pushing though lol sorry take care xxx
