Hi guys

Just wanted some advice. For the last 2 days my baby has been quite quiet. Saw the doctor yesterday as I have been really unwell over Christmas and mentioned the baby not moving as much. She listened to the heart beart which was fine but said I sahould still be feeling 10 movements. Is this 10 movements a day or an hour?? My GP said if I wasn't feeling this to go to the hospital to be monitored. I'm not sure what to do, whether to ring the hospital or not? I've not felt the baby at all today and have had a hot bath, a warm drink, laid down on my side. What do you think? Am I over reacting or should I give them a call?

Thanks
Donna. x

Hi Guys
Thanks for all your posts and PM's! I did go in to have the baby monitored, I tried everything, hot drinks, cold drinks, a bath, food and even my other half blowing rasberries on my stomach and talking to the baby which often works! But I had no movements... nothing.

Got to the hospital where they were very busy but lovely. Sat wired up to the monitor for half an hour listening to our lovely babies heartbeat which was a huge relief. Little toad even started having a boot about at this point!

I felt a total fraud but the midwife was really nice and said that it didn't matter how many times I needed to call and seek advice or come in, it was always best to air on the side of caution and they were always really happy when things were a false alarm. I feel very reassured.

Just want to say I'm glad I went in, it's really put my mind at rest and would recommend it to anyone else who experiences the same, it beats worrying. Thanks for all your support guys!

Hiya

I had the same thing happen when I was in the last few weeks and had a few trips to the hospital to check things out. Wish I'd bought one of those heart monitor things now as it would've been much less stress. Might do that this time! Anyway, I don't want to scare anyone but it's really really important to keep a close eye on things, as long as I had a bout of movements in the morning and then some more on the eve I was at ease and a warm cup of sweet tea or some choccy (any excuse eh!) would normally do the trick.

Someone who I used to work with didn't have movement for a few days, didn't really think about it and then realised it had been a while but by the time she got to the hospital her 39 week baby was no longer alive and the post mortem revealled no reason. I know this is extreme and like I said I don't want to worry you any more than you are already but you know best, you are mum afterall! If you don't think something is right then a trip to the hospital is worth it.

Best of luck.

Just rang the hospital. Since it's been very quiet for 2 days I've got to go in to be monitored. Hopefully all a false alarm and I'll be back on here later to tell you have silly and over-reactive I have been!

Thanks for the advice.

you should be feeling baby move at least 10 times a day but baby do tend to go a bit queiter towards the end as there is less room for babe to move around, i would pop along to the hospital to be monitored u prob find as soon as they put u on the monitor babe will start moving around they always do. takecare michelle xx

ive been ill over xmas aswell, but my babies movements decreased about week and a half ago.
its 10 movements in day not an hour.
alot of the time my baby doesnt move all day, but when i get up through night for the loo always active, because ive been up alot through night having pains more been moving then, so maybe your missing the movements too?

the movements in 10 a day dont have be large ones, or very noticeable.
if your really concerened then give them aring.
