Hi ladies,
I am now just over 30 weeks and i'm starting to panic about being 'ready' for the babies arrival, i went Pram shopping yesterday and finally decided on one but it takes a week to come in, thats not a problem as i have loads of time but i started to look at other bits and bobs in the shop and started to get rather overwhelmed by what i need to still buy, I actually think that there is too much choice, it was really confusing me! i'm planning on breastfeeding but i know that this doesn't always work out so after reading a post on here i decided i would buy some bottles 'just in case', well after standing in the aisle for about half an hour i then realised that there are different bottles depending on the age of the babe, i got so confused i had to move on, then i started looking at blankets, again i got so confused i had to move on, i ended up only buying a cat net for the cot!!!!.....ahhhh, i just feel like i haven't got a clue how to care for a baby!!!
Is anyone else starting to feel slightly panicked at all???
Take care all

Heya Donna hun,
i was just like you, i was stood in mothercare in tears cos there was so much and i felt like my head would explode from all the choices and im pregnant with number 4, i didn't know what to get, i sit there now with all my baby stuff around me and im still panicked that i havn't get enough bits.
Bottle wise try using "Tommee Tippee closer to nature" bottles, they are specially designed to mimic a breast and they have won many awards in mags for being so good, they are also cheaper than the Avent ones.
What i did when i was planning what to buy was i went onto websites like mothercare and babies r us and i compared prices i also looked on several(hundred) sites and got list after list which i then put together this gave me a more complete list if there were items repeated on two or more of the lists i got it. *does that make any sense???*
try not to panic though hunni, like one of the other ladies said once your little one is here you will know what to do and what your little one needs. much love always Leitia xx

Hi Donna
I also panicked about what I still needed to buy and ended up driving to mothercare and wondering around aimlessly picking up things I knew I needed but not really knowing how many or what type. In the end a shop assistant approached me and asked what I was looking for. I bit her head off saying that I didn't have clue because I'd never had a baby before! She was great, calmed me down and got me a basket and walked round the store with me talking me through the essentials and giving me choices. I was able to apologise and come home with what I needed!!
I'm due now and I'm sure there is something I will need but haven't bought and I'm sure there's loads I have bought that will never need. Whatever the scenario it will all come together, try not to panic, what you are feeling is perfectly normal. At 30 weeks it all just hit me - I am having a baby!

and this is my 3rd! Babies actually need very little. Plus you can always get stuff when baby arrives if you need something.
This is what I did when I had my last one 2 years ago and what I will be doing again.
Bedding: Cellular blankets and sheets. No need for any fancy stuff. If you want extra peace of mind buy a cheap nursery thermometer.
Bottles: I'm not breastfeeding. On the last 2 babies I used Avent bottles. The bottles are for all ages you just change the teats according to the age of baby.
Believe me your mothering instinct will kick in and you will know what is best for your baby.
Hayley 37 weeks.

Hi Donnag07
I was so focussed on getting through Christmas, that I kind of forgot how soon it is till our baby arrives (7 weeks to EDD). I know exactly how you feel - I started panicking this week. I'm lucky in that I can borrow lots from my sister, but there still seems to be lots to organise.
We ordered our pram a month ago (takes 8-10 weeks for delivery), but only got the cot yesterday. Still need to get bedding, some basic clothes and all toiletry type stuff. Writing a list made me feel much better though - maybe that might help?
I'm hoping to breastfeed too, but figure if it doesn't work, hubby will be despatched with a list to get bottles etc.
I've no idea how to care for a baby - but I'm hoping the hospital will show me the essentials. I've only ever changed a nappy a couple of times!
Keep calm - everyone else copes so we should too
