just let you know not to worry bout scan. i ad 2. i think a smear is more uncomfortable. i agree it was bit funny tho when they put condom on probe, think it was a bit late for condoms. lol
all the best. sarah xxx

...i had one of these at around 6 weeks as my doc suspected i was having an ectopic pregnancy - i was not, but better safe than sorry. they did an abdominal scan and could see pregnancy was in the womb but also did a trans-vaginal scan to have a closer look. the quality of the picture is better. all i could see was the yolk sac and a tiny heartbeat but he said that if i had been further on then i would have been able to see a better version of an abdominal scan. i think that you will probs see quite a lot at your stage.
its just like having a smear test really. i got the giggles, i think itb was when the sonographer put a condom on the probe and some ky jelly, the look on hubbys face!!! hilarious. anyway. doesnt hurt but just a bit embarrassing.
good luck to all. kelly and 35+3 bump xx

Tammy i totally agree with kelly, the first one i had i thought it was werid but funny but like a smear test and if they exmained you when you went to emergancy room its like that which is also like a smear test. second one i had i felt more relaxed about it as i knew it didnt hurt and just thought of it as a smear. To be honest i'd rather have a trans-vaginal then the normal one, any day.
Kelly- i am glad its not only me who got the giggles, i couldnt stop laughing and nick even started laughing coz he found it funny that i found it funny if you get what i mean, lol. Lis 21+1

Hey Tamz,
I had one of these when I was 6 weeks as it was too early to see anything on a normal (trans-abdominal) scan. It's normal to be asked to have an empty bladder for this type of scan even though you need a full bladder for abdominal one.
The sonographer will put a probe inside you, it's not painful, just a little embarassing!
This is the best way to see baby at this early stage so you should see him/her quite clearly.
Good Luck with the scan Take care Sharon (22wks +1day)

These scans are much clearer. Not at all painful and to be honest, you're far to interested in the screen to care whats going down there. Oh, wear a skirt if you can, it's easier than stripping from the waist.
Good luck hun, hope it all goes well.
Sarah & Jelly 16+1 weeks. xxx
