I suffered too, ew it's minging isnt it? I found lemon squash was a must, lime and soda water, satsumas or clementines and drinking water really helped. I also found pickled beetroot and pickled onions worked a treat. Anything citrus or pickled really, I know it's a aquired taste but it might be worht a try.

Make sure you have something in your belly, eat little and often if you can, (especially breakfast)an empty belly makes it oooh sooo much worse. Stay hydrated too, very important.

Other than that, you just have to ride the storm. Hopefully it will ease in the next 5 weeks or so (sorry, seems like forever that!).

Good luck chicky.

"Morning sickness"

Hi, I'm in my 6th week of pregnancy and during the first few weeks felt really bad (hours in bed ill). Against all advice over the last 2 weeks I have cut out carbohydrates and introduced lots of protein and pickled onions and pickled beetroot - lifesavers!! I can't believe the difference. Now, when I have a sneaky bag of crisps or piece of cake I pay for it dearly!! I don't miss it. Some food contains a trace of carbohydrates but I mostly go for high in protein. When I do feel the onset of nausea just a few spoonfuls of a pickled vegetable (or just its juice) settles my stomach. It doesn't taste as bad as it sounds - it's quite sweet actually. I recommend salads with olives, pickled onions, pickled beetroot, pickled gherkins, pickled anything really! Eat chicken (ready cooked from supermarket is great), tuna, ham, eggs and bacon in the morning is perfect (I have eight rashers and 2 eggs with tomatoes as it keeps me going for ages) - just cut out bread, pasta, rice, potatoes. Try it for a few meals. With this diet you will find you will be eating every couple of hours or so as you have no carbohydrates to carry you through but I can almost guarantee that you notice the difference after eating. You will only feel queasy when you become hungry again and then reach for the pickled snacks and protein. Any citrus fruit should do the trick also.
It works for me - I wish I'd known this with my first pregnancy! The only time I can cope with a carbohydrate snack is absolutely just before I go to sleep when I know I will be asleep anyway and will not have to function but that would only be a handful of crackers or something! Ginger beer (has to be the Old Jamaica Ginger Beer which actually contains the root ginger as some don't even contain any ginger (?!) is also another great drink. Have it on the rocks!! Lovely!! Another thing about cutting out or cutting down on the carbs is the fact that you won't put on so much weight. Carbs are great if you are feeling great and exercising, not if you are feeling rotten and lying on the sofa!!
I would love to hear from you whether it works or not - let me know!! Good Luck.

"Acupuncture"

Hi

I didn't have particularly bad morning sickness but throughout my pregnnacy I have been having acupuncture for all the wonderful things that come with pregnancy that make it challenging at times!

I originally didn't like the sound of having needles stuck in me but they are so fine it really doesn't hurt and I've found it brilliant. It got rid of my hayfever in the summer when I couldn't take anything, it's treated back and hip pain, indigestion, emotional rollercoaster issues and sickness. I'm off there today to have some points done to try and bring on labour.

It's not for everyone but I had a firend who suffered with severe morning sickness with all 3 pregnancies, she had acupuncture in her 3rd and was totally cured.

It's an idea if you are really suffering.

Take care

I'm 8 weeks and 2 days and for the past 4 weeks I've had morning sickness all day (but haven't been sick - just the feeling!).

For the past few days I've been chewing on "Chrystalised Ginger" and drinking "Sprite" and for me its really helping! As soon as I feel sick I nibble the ginger and it goes!

I know how you feel - at the moment I keep praying it will end soon!

I have also been told its a good sign to feel sick as the baby is taking everything it needs and your more likely to carry full-term! Apparently midwifes are concerned if you don't feel sick..........Not sure how true this is but makes me feel better!
