After having my midwife appointment last thursday and watching the midwife measure my tummy i thought i would av a go tonite as she made some sort of comment like 'your body is quite long isnt it' which i instantly in my mind questioned and thought no, coz i avnt. But she turned round & said 'yeah, your measuring 25 weeks'. So tonight, thinking i should measure around 26cm as im 26 weeks + 1, i was shocked for it to measure 33cm!!!! I measured from the top of my pubic bone to the squishy centre just under the breast bone...is this right? Im thinking now that last week i probably measured more than 25cm coz there is no way ive grown 8cm bigger in less than 5 days. And to top it off people av been commenting for the last couple of months on how big i am.

Should i ring someone & double check this or leave it til my next appointment? What would you do? I dont really wana ring my midwife coz she isnt that helpful to be honest!

"Dont worry"

i would'nt worry about it. I was measuring right on until about 32 weeks at 32 weeks i was measuring 34 and then recently at 38 weeks i was measuing 42 cm, yet ultrasound measurements show target lengths and size for baby as is my weight gain. It all depends on how you are carrying adn torso length remember they are just averages. Relax and take measurements with a grain of salt there is nothing you can do anyways even if you are measuring big.

Take care

Hi,

To be honest I wouldn't worry measuring myself, they dont measure from just under the breast bone I don't think, I thought they measure from the top of your uterus, and I guess the experts can feel for that better than us!
I to would be very suprised if you had grown 8cm in 5 days!!
When you're at your next appointment she'll measure you again but I bet everything will be fine and you'll be measuring okay!
