| Thread started by: | "Baby beets fetal doppler - product recall" Posted by hopeful9 25 January at 15:33
Don't know if anyone has or is considering getting one of these but saw this today:
"The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is asking women not to use the Baby Beets Fetal Doppler after concerns that it might not reach the required standards of safety and quality, or that it works, as required by the Medical Devices Regulations. The MHRA was alerted to the product being sold on the Internet by a legitimate manufacturer of foetal monitors. As there is no evidence that the safety and performance of this product has been assessed in accordance with the Medical Devices Regulations, the product could pose a potential risk to the mother and/or baby in respect of any energy emitted.
Clive Bray, Director of Device Technology and Safety at the MHRA said, The MHRA is currently assessing certain safety aspects of the product. It must be stressed that initial indications are that the health risk to a pregnant woman and/or their baby is small. However, as a precautionary measure, I strongly urge anyone using this product to immediately discontinue use.

Hi, the products on recall are simply not tested or safety certified period. It appears that this is the tip of the ice-berg as a lot of Chinese units are circulating in the market and a lot have safety certificates for transistor radios not medical dopplers! Finally the MHRA are taking note and acting. Interesting that they have copied the name of the UK's first home doppler the Baby Beats (note spelling) It is also ironic that the first pocket dopplers originated in the UK, yet now there is only one UK manufacturer left, and that the Chinese units are put together by women who if they dare to have more than one child will be state aborted. Stay safe buy or rent a UK built doppler, you may pay more but your baby will be safe.

Hi
Please note if you have a baby beets doppler the advice is not to use it.
We are a supplier of the angelsounds unit in the UK and as confirmed by MHRA the angelsounds is CE approved and safety tested for the UK, there is no difference in safety between china and the UK as long as they are CE approved, they all use one of the notified bodies to do the testing independently and must all have the same safety regulations applied to them.
After a conversation with MHRA their advice is if in any doubt to telephone them or look at the product on their website for information of the recall, but it is only for the baby beets product.
I hope this helps reassure any of you using the angeslounds and if you have any further questions please drop me a private email
Best wishes
Amanda
