| Thread started by: | "Spoke to midwife (epic coming up)" Posted by milmolmai 5 February at 19:07
went to docs this morning and asked about when should first see MW they said needed to fill form in which i'd done 2 weeks ago and receptionist said should of contacted me to then tell me when she'd be in touch and when first likely to see me. anyway filled in a new form and receptionist suggested i took it to where they hav a clinic on a tues, so i did just that. amazingly i got a phone call at 5.45 from my midwife saying she hadn;t forgoten me but they don't make contact until 8-10 weeks and i explained what receptionist said and MW said they don;t do that and it depends what work they've got on!!! also said i'd phoned and spoke to other MW last week as had a scare but she didn;t seem unduly bothered. had another scare today and i really panicked, i had a bleed which was like a period bleed (sorry tmi) anyway phoned MW number no answer, phoned my docs no answer phoned another docs to ask where nearest epu was and she said she'd never heard of one. i then phoned nhs direct and they were really quick and understanding. the nurse went through checklist with me and it said i wasn't showing dangerous signs!!! she said if blood got heavier or had any pain to go to a&e. so far haven't had anymore bleeding but have felt really down and fed up all day. anyway back to MW again, told her about the bleed and she said it could be old blood and also unfortunately if something was gonna happen there wasn't alot to stop it. she's also made an appointment to come and see me next tuesday and we'll go through everything then. really sorry to have gone on. hope everyone ok love laura xx

It can be so hard sometimes with the NHS, its like fighting a losing battle sometimes!! I live in the rochdale area, but i wouldnt go to rochdale mat if you paid me!! I go to the Bury hospital, I had both my boys there and the midwives are wonderful. I cant belive the differance of care from hospital to hospital. When i lived in Prestwich, I had a wonderful community midwife she was great. It is a shame that we do have so many problems with the midwives sometimes. Before i got pregnant this time I had a m/c, and my gp and the EPAu were fantastic, caring and understanding. When i ws 6 weeks this time i had some pain and my gp sent me straight to the EPAU and i had scan and all was fine. Sorry i think i am waffleing, what iam trying to say is i think everyone has had a bad experience. But there are good ones out there too.
How is your bleeding now? Has it settled? My friend didnt know she was pregnant til she was 16 weeks as she was having periods. She has a lovely 22 month old little girl now. So not all bleeding is a sign of a m/c. Is this your first? If the bleeding is still happening i would either go to the gp and ask to be refered to the EAPU or go to a & e during the day and hopefully they would be able to scan you and see what was happening.
Think positive and iam sure all will be ok. Sorry for the long read and hope it has been a little hlep, feel free to pm me anytime.

I completely sympathise with you. Having had 2 miscarriages I would always recommend bypassing the MW and DR and going straight to A&E when you bleed. They never think you are wasting thier time. I often get the impression that GPs and MW dont take your pregnancy seriously until you're past the danger zone.
Dont feel like you are on your own, and dont appologise for having a rant, I think most of us can tell a tale or two of crappy MW's and DR's. Dont be palmed off, if you're bleeding - get to the hospital and get seen by people who actually seem to care and can give you answers.
By the way, I had a massive bleed at 10 weeks this time, my baby is fine, I'm sure yours will be too.
Good luck sweetie.

i had a bleed to and went to a+e who were really good and refered me to epu for a scan to check all was ok then i spent weeks chasing the midwife for an appt and didn't end up getting seen until 16 weeks. sometimes i wonder what goes on there don't they understand that we are scared and want to know all is well. once i got there things have been better.
Just keep calling and chasing and i hope tuesday goes well for you.

Hi Laura, cant believe the way there treating u esp seen as u m/c already. It is like they only seam to care when ur not past the 3 month zone. Its the same over here. If u dont feel something is right id go in to the hospital and kick up. Fingers crossed everything will be ok and u get to speak or see someone on tues.
Keep us posted jen xx
