| Thread started by: | "Throbing pain in left lower abdomen - 18 weeks anyone else?" Posted by catftm 19 February at 11:20
Hi, Im 18 weeks + 2 days and have been getting pains in my lower abdomen. It's always on the right sidein the same place, next to my hip bone about two inches in. It started off as like a pin stabbing sensation but has turned into a dull throbbing pain that i get now and then, (but have been getting it more regular and daily) i can be doing nothing and get the pain and i can also get it when moving, the midwfie heard the heartbeat a couple of days a go and i didn't mention it but it seems to be getting a bit worse. Has anyone else experienced this? I thought it might be round ligament pains but it seems to be a bit more consistent and regular than what ive read about that. Its not majorly painful but it is noticeable! Can anyone help? xx

I too got pains exactly like yours, and I thought it might be ligamnent pain. However I popped to my midwife who tested my urine and it turned out I had a little urine infection. I've had three more since. They are really common in pregnancy and can cause pain in the hip area as well and radiating into your lower back. It's always worth a quick check by your GP or midwife as its easily sorted with anti biotics. Hope this helps,

Sounds to me like its stretching and ligament pains.. i had these throughout my pregnancy, sometimes it was so bad it would stop me in my tracks. The pains would be excruitating... all down my right hand side. I did enquire with my midwife when i was getting them and she would check bump was ok to put my mind at rest. Dont hesitate to ask yours thats what their there for. But it sounds to me like a normal pregancy complaint hun, sorry i cant be off more help.
Gemma and bump due anyday

Hi Hun,
It sound like ligamentus to me, but you will need to ask your midwife for sure, if you have only just had an appt with her, then feel free to ring her and ask her, or just book a normal dr appt as they can help as well.
Good luck hun
