I'm running 13k in the great north run to help raise awareness of GBS. group b strep is a bateria that many men and women carry harmlessly in there body. however during pregnancy and childbirth this can cause problems for the baby. it can be passed on to the baby through childbirth with sometimes tragic consequences. I have had my own experience with GBS and sadly lost my beautiful baby girl. This charity is dear to me as i think is important to raise awareness. many women have never heard of GBS and if they are told they're a carrier, dont know the implications. i would like to see that every pregnant woman is screened for it to prevent sad situations that could be prevented.
