Hello all you lovely pregnant ladies..!

I'm new to this site and posted on the scan discussion board where a lovely lady called Lisa suggested I come over to this one. I was hoping to find someone out there who has taken the CVS test and could tell me their experience of it. I'm 44 yrs old and currently 12 +3 weeks pregnant with my 3rd. This pregnancy was a complete surprise out of the blue but I was thrilled when I got over the shock! Taking into account my age and the fact that I have a recurrent miscarriage history (5 to date), I knew it wasn't going to be plain sailing. Well I made it past all the blood counts, scan hurdles and last week had my combined nuchal test. My nuchal looked brilliant - only 1mm gap; but then when my blood results went with it (my HCG was also high - 3 MOM when 1 is more ideal, and my PAPP-A was only .25 - you need a 1 really) this gave me a mathematical Downs risk factor of 1:5 - pretty pants really. I now think I want to know for sure asap and don't think I can wait for an amnio, but was wondering what a CVS was like as I'm a bit of a scaredy cat.. can anyone enlighten me?

I had asked about the CVS test, but it isnt carried out over here, N.Ireland. We just have the 15wks bloods thats the only test they carry out for Downs.
Just want to send you big hugs and wish you all the best for your test and hopefully you get good results!

to you. I havent had the cvs i'm afraid so can't help really, just wanted to say that i've had friends who were given poor chances of normal pregnancies but everything turned out fine for them in the end.
Fingers crossed for you babe
