Is dentist local anaesthetic safe?

Morning girls,

I was just wondering if anyone knew if it was OK to have a local anaesthetic when pregnant? I meant to ask my GP last week but she was a bit stand offish and I totally forgot (was too busy trying not to cry!).

I'm meant to be having a filling next Friday which is already about 3 months overdue!
Have any of you been and had fillings when preggers?

Thanks
N xx

I've had mine done

I have a very good dentist (she should be she costs enough!!) and she advised not to have anaesthetic in the first 12 weeks but fine after that. I've had 2 fillings (white ones)and an extraction and I'm now 32wks with no adverse effects

Hope this helps

Claire

Hi

Hey i needed a filling when i was 27 weeks pregnant and had bad toothache, and i was told that pregnant women are not aloud to have fillings at all because of the mercury or something...anyway i needed two teeth out but was only aloud one as if he would of used any more anasthetic then it might of caused problems i was told...so gotta go back when babys born.
Good luck

Hi

I think it is but your dentist will know for sure. I do think that you can only have temp fillings done when pregnant though - something to do with the mercury. again your dentist will advise you
