**blood results rhesus negative**

i have had a check up with the midwife today which all went well.
She said the baby was growing well and i heard the heartbeat which is amazing and so reassuring to hear-it makes it just that little bit more real.

i had my blood results back and was advised that i am rhesus negative which is less common that the usual positive.

she advised that i need to have a couple af anti d injections and more regular blood tests and that there is not much to worry about but im sure you ladies will understand that everything makes you worry a little bit when you are pregnant?!

has anyone had this and had any complications etc or was everything fine?

Thanks
Lisa and little bubba (16 weeks today!)

Hey

Yeah, i'm rh neg an I just had to have a couple of injections; Ava was born 6 weeks ago and there were no complications at all, it is just a precaution really, and the injections prevent any problems occuring.

Stepdaughter is rh negative

Hi there
My pregnant stepdaughter is Rhesus negative. She had to have some injections and apart from that hasn't had any problems.
My dad's family were all Rhesus negative and apparently its the blood group that's most in demand, so you might wanna think about giving blood in the future when you can, as apparently they are desperate for rhesus negative blood.
I wouldn't worry about being rhesus negative. It's not like the olden days when you ended up in hosp for ages afterwards and baby got ill and stuff (like my dad's sister in 1971). They can prevent all that kind of thing nowadays with the injections.
Best of luck

Me too...

Hi, don't worry you just get a few injections and thats it really. I think they check babies blood (from umb cord) after the birth...or so i read. and if baby is rhesus positive then they give mum another injection after birth, but nothing complicated really.

Take care,

Lou & beanie (31+5)xx

Mee too

I'm also rhesus negative. have had two anti D injections at 28 and 34 weeks and will have another when baby is born. other than that there is nothing extra. you just need to make sure that if you were to have a fall that you go to a&e or midwife as you would need an anti D but each one lasts 6 weeks.

there is nothing to worry about though so put it out of your mind and enjoy your pregnancy.
