Exciting!

Ooo, how exciting, you are nearly there! Yes, you can still go into labour if your baby is fully engaged or not. My first baby was only ever 2/5 engaged and didn't drop fully until I was in labour. I still had a relatively short, easy labour, so don't think it really makes any difference as long as they are in a good position and heading in the right direction.

My m/w also never discussed anything about what happens if you go over, right up until I had a routine ante-natal around my due date. It works slightly differently in each area of the country, but after my appt at 40 weeks, I was advised that once I was a week late I should contact the ante-natal day clinic at the hospital to discuss a sweep. I was due to go for this chat when I was 8 days late but actually had my baby naturally the day before so never got that far!

If you are due to see your m/w again in the next week then speak to her about how it works in your area, or if you are concerend about anything, give them a ring to discuss it. They are there to help you, so use them and get the information you need. Hopefully it will happen before you get that far, but good luck, and hope it all goes smoothly for you.
