My first visit to see the midwife?

when i found out i was pregnant i went to striaght to the doctors he felt my belly. but couldnt feel a lump he made me a appointment to see the midwife. the doctor nor myself dont know how far i am.. when i see the midwife is she gonna give me a scan there and then i really want to know how far i am!

Firstly congratulations!

When you go to see the midwife she will organise for an early scan for you with a consultant, it can be carried out in the health centre or at the hospital. I got one 3days after my MW booking in appointment. If they arent picking anything up using the normal scan on your tummy they will do an internal vaginal scan with a probe thingie. You will hardly feel a thing! The vaginal scan is usually done before 8wks as far as I know, but as they are not sure how far along you are they will do the normal tummy one first and depending how much they see, then switch over to the vaginal one then I would say.

when i was pregnat for the first time i didn't know how far pregnant i was, so midwife arranged for an early dating scan, when i went then did a normal scan but couldn't really see alot so had to do an internal scan (it really doesn;t hurt so don't worry if they have to do this).

did the doctor not ask the first day of your last menstural cycle cos thats how my doctor first worked it out you can look at due date calculators on the internet they tell you the due date and the time you could of concieved. sorry if i not been much help.
