"Baby clothes"

Am really confused about what baby clothes sizes to buy. Should I get newborn sizes or is 0-3 the right size to get. My mum thinks we should just buy 0-3 sizes and the baby will grow into it.

What did you all buy?

I've bought some great bargains from NCT sale last weekend but they are all 0-3.

Some books say get the next size up to what the baby is? Others say get newborn!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....

Please help!

What shall we buy????

make sure you definitely get a good amount of newborn. My baby girl was 7lb11oz and just fit into a tiny baby outfit that a friend had bought whilst in NY. She only wore that one time though. Despite being a good size she is a really long baby and rather skinny so for us she is starting to grow out of newborn now (she is 3 weeks) just because she has long legs and feet. However, 0-3 do swamp her a little still to be honest.

Although this does not make it any easier for you i have found that it kinda depends on where you get stuff from. I have found Next babygrows up to 1 month fit her well, Matalan 0-3 were huge!!!! but some other 0-3 stuff has been ok (not sure where they are from though) Tesco newborn lasted her for a week.

Therefore, apologies for the rambling, get a good selection in size of cheaper ones until you know what your little one will be like shape wise.

All the best

I didn't know which size to buy for my little boy, I bought a few newborn babygrows and vests and mainly 0-3 months stuff. (was told by midwife he would be late 7 early 8's) he was 6lb 12oz...and everything was huge! He was poorly at 4 weeks old and went back down to his birth weight and he is still wearing some of his newborn outfits now - he is 18 weeks old tomorrow and a slow gainer,he only weighs 12lb 2oz now.

I would advise to get a few of each and you can always get more when your baby is born.

Take care

when Olivia was born she weighed 6lb 15oz and newborn were really big for her. they are scrunched up for a week or two. we had to go out and buy tiny baby stuff! newborn go upto 10lb anyway but will prob fit till baby is 1-2months. def buy 0-3 cos you will need them. but dont buy too many clothes as thats what everyone buys when babys born.
Olivias now about 12lb 8oz and shes still in 0-3months and shes 11wk tomorrow. 3-6months are still very big.
baby def needs some clothes that fit when they are born cos they will get really cold. sleepsuites and vests are cheap enough anyway you will prob only need three of each.

take care

ive got about 20 vests newborn and about 15 sleep suits just incase, they are all unisex colours so if we have another one then they can be worn again. ive have also got 0-3 things too

i had some 0-3m stuff and some newborn. oliver was 7lb 13oz when he was born so hardly a tiny baby and most of the newborn stuff absolutely drowned him, never mind the 0-3. my hubby had to go out and buy some 'early baby' stuff so he wasnt swamped with whatever he was wearing. dont get me wrong, he soon grew out of the early baby, but if you go somewhere like tesco for sleepsuits, they are cheap enough and you can always keep them for next time.

olly is now nearly 10.5 lb and the 0-3 is still too big for him!

good luck!!
