Stretch marks and areolas

I'm 24 weeks and starting to get stretch marks very heavily on ny breasts, buttocks, and thighs. Is there anything out there that helps? I've been using vitamin e oil and stretch mark lotion but its not seeming to help much. Also, do your areolas go back down after birth?

Hiya

I'm using bio oil and (yes and) coco butter. I slap it on thickly when I'm still wet getting out of the shower. You're really slippery for about 10 mins but it's soooh nice on the skin. I'm prone to stretchmarks as I got them when I was a little porker as a teen. So far in this pregnancy I dont have any and there are no signs of any. My skin feels fab and it smells great too (it is a bit weird that the guys at wok pop over to smell the pregnant lady, but hey, whatever floats their boat!), even my old stretchmarks are much lighter than they were.

Me nips are the same as usual, just leaky and I dont have the dark line down my tum either (my inny is still nad inny too!).

Dont panic about stretchmarks, consider them battle scars. They do fade just keep your skin nice and moisturised.

Sharon's right...

...Body shop butter is brill, it's £12 and there's loads of different fragrances (I particularly like the strawberry). One other cream I found brill but it's pricey is Clinique Body Suffle - it's £20 but it's really good at giving your skin that extra moisture it needs.

Q - at what stage does your areola start to appear? I am 22+3 wks - got my bump, no stretch marks as yet as I moisturise day and night but I don't have that dark line yet???

Body shop butter

Hi. Some of the girls have recommended body shop butter. When the stuff I have been using runs out I intend to buy some...my cupboards are well stocked with body lotions and I have just been using them, but I am early on at the moment. Have heard of bio oil being used as well.

Not sure about the areolas, some of the other girls might be able to answer that questions.

Nipples

I think the areola goes back to normal once pregnancy/breastfeeding hormones settle, mine are darker and bigger than usual - (sexy hey girls?) - but I'm not worried and I'm hopeful my nipples will return to there former glory, ha ha!

Someone else mentioned the line, I think they're talking about the line nigra, which some women get and some don't, and I think that fades away too, there was a post on the line nigra sometime ago, and the discussion came to the conclusion that the darker skinned you are the more likely you are to have this, people like myself with paler skin don't seem to get it so often (I don't know whether that is a fact or just what seems to be when chatting to others on here?)

As for stretch marks, I can't help, tried all sorts, creams, oils, but I have loads of unsightly ones, some quite deep and sore, but I TRY not to get myself down about it, they say stretch marks are, up to an extent, a genetic thing so although creams may help the elasticity in your skin a bit, the creams can't work miracles.

Bio oil!!

where can i find this bio oil!?! is that the correct term for it?? ... when did you start putting lotion on? and how far do you start getting stretch marks. ?

You

can buy Bio Oil in Boots, it's a brand name so yeh, you're using the correct term.
I found it such a greasy product, but if it helps prevent them then it's worth the purchase I suppose. I'd say start using it as soon as possible to get the best from it, women that get stretch marks tend to get them around their thighs, bum, hips, tummy and boobs, so you can apply it on all of those areas...remember you may not even me prone to them, you could be one of the lucky ones!

Bought it

Well,i went out and got the bio-oil. A little goes a long way.Its a little greasy but I guess thats why its oil. Has a very pleasent scent though, very lite and fresh. Well, mommies-to-be lets see if it works!
