"Babies names.."

Hello everyone I know it's not the right forum to talk about the names but I need advice from British and French people so I thought I might as well use that one!
My partner is English-Jamaican, I'm French. It's hard to find names which can be pronounced in french and in english! All the french names that I like are not nice in english...(clement for example, clee-mente..)
We don't know the sex of the baby so we've decided on two names each:
Boys
- Kwame
- Keziah (ke-zee-ah)
girls
- Cyane (cee-ane)
- Nina

We want unusual names, Cyane I haven't heard that one before and Keziah is normally for a girl but i prefer it for a boy....

What do you think??
Thanks

these are my faves, but they're all lovely!
which one are you going for?

We are going for Kwame & Cyane!!
I was not sure because I find it hard to confront my French family (they've never heard of those names and so they have different views) but I realised that generations are different and that I should put my foot down and follow my heart!
It is my new family and I live here so I might as well please myself.
I will always find people who don't like them anyway.
Thanks for your reply!
"Exactly!"

It's your baby, it's up to you and your partnerThey'll get used to it anyway...
"Merci les filles!"

Ca me remonte le moral. Les francais en france ne comprennent pas ces noms et nos choix.
Comme vous dites, tout le monde n'aimera pas donc autant prendre les noms que nous aimons, nous. Je ne les ai toujours pas annonce a mes parents car je sais qu'ils n'aimeront pas (ma mere m'a sorti Victor la derniere fois, me disant que les vieux prenoms revenaient a la mode...)
Ils auront la surprise quand bebe arrivera!

Merci encore!
Estelle.

I think we are all in the same situation because of mixt languages couples! For me, I am not big on irish name ( my husband is irish!) or so far I haven't been temped by any! I understand exactly the prononciation problem! I love Arthur but in english he doesn't sound so good and apparently it is an old name here....
I think Nina is very cut and girly and easy to prononce to everyone!
The boys name I didn't known them to be honest!
My brother (He is 14) is called Hugo, I didn't known here people were calling their dogs by that name! But perhaps you will be not leaving in the Uk all your life so pick one you think it is just right when you will see your baby!

Good luck

Emilie

and i'm very fussy, but Keziah(like Keziah jones) is excellent! I like kwame too, and wanted maybe Sia 4 a girl but my boyfriend didn't like it. Funny but my boyfriend is english sort of jamaican(well his mum is half jamaican), anyway 4 names it's alwys a total disagreement 4 us, there is always only one name we agree on, for exemple for my son i loved Sacha but like your partner he thought that was too gay! So my son is Manu Sacha(you can't win everything), this time if it's a girl the only name we agree on is Mia, so Mia it will be!!! Anyway, you can't go with what people think, you can't please everybody neither(for instance my mother in law hates the name Mia!) As long as it feels right, you've got it! Nat
"I think its lovely!"

Ive got a Kwame in my group of friends, it is nice and for the girl, Nina is cute and very feminine and Cyane, i dont know this one but it sounds exotic and pretty, sophisticated i would say!
If it is easy for the both of you to pronounce, and also by your family respectively, it is the most important.
I have the same problem, my partner is irish and i am french. I love Maxime, but he says that it sounds too gay!! he likes Robert because of Bob, but come on, it is an old name for us, french !! His family would like us to pick an irish name while my family dont mind at all.
From the begining i am fond of "Matthew", because for me it is the name of love (M like "aime" and the sound "ou" like the one you find in "amour").
Good luck,
C.

"Thanks!"

I know it's hard! I like Hugo but my partner said that that's how british people name their dog....
Not easy at all! And I agree all the names like Robert, Harriet, Michelle, which British people find sooooo sexy, well they're not!!
Good luck too!
C u !!
"Robert? sexy? hmm..."

I think the names in your first post are great in any language - it must be really hard to please two families of different cultures, it's hard enough when we all speak the sale language!
