Fundus measurments

Hi alL, Just getting confused about the fundus height chart thing, is this the measurement of the baby, becasue my friend said im going to have a big baby because my 31 wk appointment the midwifes measured me at 31 cms im not that big myself, i dont want a big baby lol, any advice?

As the other girls said, you seem to be measuring spot on, the fundal height is the height of your uterus, they measure from your pubic bone to the top of your uterus.
I had this explained to me by my consultant, as since all along, my fundal height measurment has always been bigger than the weeks that I am, this, along with scans suggested that I will deliver a big baby.
Since 38 weeks my fundal height has been 42cm.

Basically, the chart in your notes is based on averages across the entire population, so 1cm per week is a rough guide to the average growth on the average woman and it is (in my consultants words - or something to the affect of), "unfortunate that they don't have the resources to build an individual graph for each woman, as the size of your baby and your fundal height is down to part genetics, part ethnic origin, your diet and various other factors..."

Don't worry about this at all, I'm blabbing now.

you messure 31 cms coz it should go by the week you are. I am due the same day as you and i am messuring 31. dont worry.

Fundal size

Hi Bry,

Your fundal measurment is suppossed to be the same as the amount of weeks you are, its 1cm per week, so its sounds as if you are measuring perfectly, sont let your friend scare you,
