hey guys,
quick question what age do babies start to sleep right through the night?Finlay is now 11weeks old and still does not sleep right through. he goes to bed about half 7 8, and usually gets up again around 3-4am (depending on what mood he is in) for as bottle then goes back down till 7-8am. I know this is really good for a baby just wondering when they will begin to sleep right through? Should I be waking him up before 3am for a feed? My health visitor told me not to, she said just to leave him and he will wake up on his own when he wants feeding.
When did all of your babies sleep right through?
Thanks Haylez and 11week old Finlay xxx

Finlay is already on hungry baby milk and is now on 6-7oz as he is just so hungry! I was going to try him with a rusk before bed but the health visitor told me not to and to hold out till he was 4months!
Lisa..have also tried just to soothe him and not feed him and he was having none of that so had to give him a bottle!lol and he hates having a wet nappy will just scream until you change it lol little monkey!
I think half his problem is he is just too nosy! feels like he is missing out on something if he is asleep lol
thanks for the advice i m sure he ll settle down eventually
take care Haylez and Finlay xx

yep the hv told me to wait while Olivia was 20weeks to give her a rusk... but i have what i think is best. you could try just giving him a sip of water when he wakes in the night instead of a bottle. my auntys lil boy is 18wks and he is over weight cos he his having too much milk. he is 17lbs and has 9oz every 3-4hours and still doesnt sleep through. the hv said to try and stop giving him night feed and just give him water and its working!
wont be long Stacey & Olivia x x x

I have also tried giving him water but he is not stupid and knows its not milk lol just spits it back out going to go buy some baby juice to flavour it a little bit and see what he does!lol little one not over weight he was 12lb 3 last time he was weighed..the health visitor just told me to up his bottles but he does not seem to want more milk than usual just wants to be fed.
wil give it another week then i am going onto rusks whether they want me to or not lol
take care Haylez and FInlay xx

I am still breastfeeding my little boy, he is 20 weeks this week. I give him a dream feed about 10.30ish and for the last two weeks he has slept until 8am. A blessing, although I still wake up to check him every few hours!

Olivia has just started sleeping through. She started going at least 8 hours at 10wks... 11wks she started sleeping from 7.30pm-7am.
i have started to give her rusk before bed so i think that helps. also i used to give her 5oz in the day and 6oz before bed and that made her go longer. now shes on 6oz all the time.
last night i feed her her bottle at 6pm... gave her some rusk at 7.30pm ish and she slept while 7am this morning (when deans alarm went off) but she usually goes while 7.30am cos shes not that hungrey when she wakes up. and if you feed her she will go back to sleep while 9.30am ish. ( i cant sleep that long tho! )
is Finlay on hungrey milk? they say that helps (Livvys still on gold tho.. shes never been a hungrey baby) how long does he go between feeds in day?
every baby is different for sleeping through. i used to feel as if she would never sleep through but it just happened one night and she has done ever since! i feel as if we have got our life back now and me and dean now spend evenings together.
hope this helps a little take care Stacey & 12wk 5day old Olivia x x x

If only there was a set answer for this question it would make all us mums' lives a lot easier! Im sure I dont need to tell you every baby is different and what works for one wont work for another. I was extremely lucky with my first and he slept through from about 10pm to 6am after only 6 weeks. Within a couple of weeks after that I started putting him down at 7pm and starting a proper bedtime routine, which worked after only a few days of adjustment and he went through till about 5am. He would occasionally wake up and want a cuddle or a feed but always settled very quickly and by the time he was 3 months he was going a good 12 hours at night 7-7. He has always been a good sleeper and never strayed from this, he still goes 7-7 now and he is almost 3!! Doesn't nap in the day much now though, only the odd day if he's been extremely active.
If yours is going right through till 3 am, thats great and I certainly wouldn't be waking him up before that or else he will get into a routine of thinking he should be waking if you know what I mean. Does he feed well? Might be a bit soon yet, but you could try not feeding him when he wakes at 3, and just soothe him instead. Dont change him unless he has soiled, and see if he will settle without milk. Either it will work or it wont. If he will go back to sleep with just a cuddle and a bit of reassurance, that might be all he needs and he will quickly learn not to bother waking if he is not getting any food! Then again he might scream like hell till he gets his milk....only you can know how he would react and whether he is ready for that.
Good luck
