Green poo...upset tummy?

Hi all!

Freddy is 4 weeks now. He has always had problems after he feeds, takes him ages to go back down in the night after a feed and same in the day. He screws up his legs and looks like he's in bad pain, and this is after winding and trying colic and winding things (infacol, dentinox). Anyway, was talking to a friend n she said the milk he is on may be too rich and give him tummy pains. He does have green poo too, and she said this is called a gripey poo?! Im sure ull all agree that the more people tell u the more confusing everything gets. But do u think i should change his milk. He is on SMA gold, could i change to Cow n Gate do u think? If not the milk then any other suggestions? Sorry to go on!

Becky and Freddy 1 month 2day!

Hello

green poo is normal for all young babies, it will eventually start to go yellow. Keep giving him infacol before every feed and you will start to see improvement, it def sounds like he is suffering with colic. My first suffered with it very bad, but we kept on with the infacol and it did is job, we used it til after a few weeks after he started with solid food. Both my boys had cow and gate 2. I would say unless he is vomiting all his milk badly stay with the milk that you are on. It does sound just that he has got bad colic.
I hope that this has been of some help, and he picks up soon. Trust me keep giving him the infacol and you will see improvement, 1 full dropper before every feed.

Loadsa love jan and nearly 24 week girl bump.

Hiya...

green poo is normal for babies on sma. if its really runny and watery and green then he may be unwell.
talk to you hv before you change is milk cos that could make him worse. you have to change milk gradualy otherwise it gives them belly ache etc.

im sorry he seems to be having problems with feeding etc, im lucky that Olivias been fine. i did try her with sma white but it made her very unsettled and her poo went really hard so i have changed it back to gold.

have a talk with the health visitor.

hope this helps

Hello

My little boy was the same at this age, no matter how hard you try to get wind out it always seems to come out the other end. When Kieran was 4 weeks old he had a tummy bug and stopped feeding for about 36 hours (I am breastfeeding and he just didn't have the strength to latch on - bless him) He had green poo at this point. A few weeks ago his poo went greeny again and I asked the health visitor about it, she said it is normal for poo to go green if he's been more windy than usual. Sorry can't answer your question any better.

Good luck!

Ellie
