Hello

I started my maternity at 36 weeks but had a weeks hol to use up so left when i was 35wks, this was about right for me as i am not sleeping and got a water infection my last week so really struggled, also the back ache is bad and sitting at a desk wasnt helping.

Everyone is different, just take leave when you have had enough, you can always tell work our working until say week 38 but then pull it forward. Most companies however will not let you back to work if you have off 1 day sick up to 4wks prior to your due date as they see it too risky, so if you have a day off and you are 36wks or over chances are most companies will not allow you back to work and you will have to take your leave. But not all places will do this, i know mine did and so did my mates.

I am hopeful that i will be able to work quite close to the due date of my c-section, but you are able to start mat leave with pay at 29 weeks. It does all depend on how you are feeling. With my first i started mat leave at 35 weeksbut with my 2nd i had very bad back problems and worked in a nursery so i started my maternity at 30 weeks.
Hope this is helpful for you.

Hi,

I finish this Friday and i'll be 35+5 weeks. The last few weeks have been a struggle due to me not sleeping at night and then having to get up to come to work.

I wanted to work till late on in my pregnancy so i had more time off when the baby is here.

Everyone is different and it all depends on how well you are in yourself and the type of job you have.

Take Care

Jennie
