Hey girlies im new to the board. im due 4 July and having a little girl, calling her Rebeca Lily-May. (Rebeca with one C the welsh way. Im 28 weeks today!

I have just moved to Aberdare South Wales ... anyone else from South Wales on here?

I am planning on having baby in a birthing centre close to home although due to medical circumstances may have to go to the hospital (which isnt that far away either).

I am a carrier of Haempohillia which only affects boys but in labour this means that there are certain things I cant have. I cant have the suction thing (Ventouse i think its called), i cant have forceps, and have to be careful not to tear and other things. Also I am not allowed to push for too long either so once I have been pushing for all of 4 hours its straight to the hospital for a c-section. Ok so here's my question, would you just go straight to the hospital and save all the agravation of going to one place and then being transferred to another if natural birth doesnt happen (ps i want a water birth), or go to the hospital where i cant have a water birth as there are no facilities and just get it over with? What would you do in my situation? Sorry a bit long, but id like to know what you guys think?

xxx

thats a tricky one. while part of me would say go to the hospital the other part says try for your natural birth. i am also going to a birthing centre and planning a water birth. been told there is much less chance of intervention at the centre compaired to the hospital and with the water birth your less likely to tear. they will transfer you if they have the sightest hint of something going wrong and if they are happy to take you they must be confident that they can deal with the situation.

sorry if not much help and good luck with whatever you choose and the baby

I had thee same thing, my Dad is a Haemophiliac and as I am a girl and it is carried through girls to boys and I am having a boy they were very concerned. The good news for me though is my Dad doesnt have the major form and doesnt require meds so chances are my baby will be fine.

The thing is I would have opted for a C-section if it had been bad purely to be on the safe side! Of course it all goes with how you feel at the time but I know me - I would want it to be as calming experience for me and baby as possible (that is if labour could ever be a calm experience!)

Good luck

Firstly congratulations with your pregnancy and you've picked a beautiful name for her.

Secondly if i was you i would scrap the birthing pool and the birthing centre and go straight to the hospital. You dont want to take any chances where your health is concerned hun. If you weigh up the pros and cons for both places im sure the hospital will come out top.

Of course its up to you where you decide to have your baby at the end of the day, but i would defo go with the hospital.

Hope your pregnancy has been stress free so far for you.

Congrats on your pregnancy. I am due on the 24th July with a little boy (this will be boy no 5).

I dont really know anything about your situation. If you was able to have a normal labour then yeah I would say have your water birth but personally I think that for the sake of your health I would go straight to the hospital cause you never know how labour is going to pan out. I have had 4 boys and all my labours have been different.

Anyway its what you feel happy with.

Take care and keep us updated on what you will be doing.

For your thoughts. I know no pregnancy can really go to plan so I am considering just going to the hospital - the safest option!

Thanks again x
