I had the worst trapped wind at 34 wks, and was in tears for about 2 hours! At the time I began to wonder if I cant cope with trapped wind, how will i ever manage labour!
When you are in labour I am sure you'll build up the contractions gradually and you'll deal with the pain brilliantly. And if not, there are options you can chose from to help you out!
Remember your not a failure, you've spent months building a little miracle in your tum!!! how can anyone who can do that be a failure???
everyone assures me that the pain is immediately forgotten anyway when your baby comes!!
Big hugs darlin and keep your chin up! I'm sure it'll not be long now!!

Hi ladies,
Me again! As you may know from my post yesterday I had contractions on and off and was sure baby was coming. I'm due in 2 days but not really or obsessive anxious to get baby out!I appreciate all the advice you gave me and have tried most of it.

However, last night I was awake from 1:30am with contractions and strong period like pains. At 7am they were 3 in 10 mins so hospital asked me to come in.
So I did and I had an internal and was monitored for 20 mins. When I entered the building the contractions slowed down! But at least when I was monitored 3 quite strong contractions were seen by the midwife.
Anyway, after the internal the midwife told me the baby's head cannot be felt yet! I am totally depressed and so worried.
Like I said to the midwife, the contractions that I had, last night were really sore and took my breath away. How am I gonna cope with the real thing? They were so sore and i though i'd a high pain threshold!
I feel like a failure. I could even see the disappointment in my partner's face!
The midwife said I might bleed now but not to worry and my contractions have stopped!!!
AAHHH!
Please any advice about pain and the 'real thing' would be welcomed! Is it really that much more different than what I have experienced??

Don't feel like a failure...I'm sure when it does all kick off for you that you'll cope just fine.
I had Kieran in November and had quite a rough time really, the cheeky lil monkey was back to back and I ended up having a spinal, he was delivered by forceps. Although saying that, my waters went at 1.30am and I called the hospital. I was told to monitor the fluid that I was losing and to call back after an hour. When I called back they told me to go in because the fluid was pink. Arrived at about 6am (make sure you get the fathers-to-be to check the car battery girls!!) They examined me at 7 (and I'd still not had any contractions) they found me to be at least 3cm dialated. Kieran was born at 3.24pm and even though I remember some of the pain I would do it 10 times over for him.

My birth plan said that I didn't want drugs, just gas and air. I ended up having Gas and air, pethidine which was awful (I was asleep between contractions - felt so weird), paracetamol and eventually a spinal. Just go with it.

Good luck! Anything else you wanna know you can PM me.

ahai, I know how you feel, with my first child I started to get contractions but as soon as i was monitored in hospktal they stopped, I was in and out of hospital for nearly two days when my daughter finally decided to make an appearance! With my second child I had a homebirth which I really enjoyed as I was able to do things in my own way, although the contractions hurt I was comfortable at home and felt more relaxed. Have you tried squatting? my midwife advised me to try them as it helps the baby slip down abit although be careful you don't get stuck like I did!

I can't really give any advice as I'm just 35 +3 wks with my first but I just wanted to say you really shouldn't feel like a failure. I'm scared of birth and worry that I won't be able to cope with the pain. My partner has high expectations of me having a drug free birth as thats what I want ideally and I worry he'll be disappointed too if I end up having intervention because I can't cope.

I've read a lot about childbirth and the link between fear-tension-pain and it seems that the best thing you can do (to have a less painful and faster labour) is to try and stay relaxed. It must be really frustrating to have false alarms but very soon it will all be behind you so try not to get too depressed.

Good luck, Cherry x

Thank you so much girls!

I've slept for an hour or so and feel a bit better. You're words always cheer me up! When I came back from the hospital earlier I felt so tired, emotional and just plain useless. I'm beginning to start feeling positive again. The period like pain is still here and i'm taking paracetamol for it. Still sore and the odd irregular contraction but I keep thinking this is all helping with the second pre-labour stage of dilating the cervix. Just never thought it'd be so bloody sore!

Hey Jo hun,

I think going through pregnancy is a success in itself! At the moment I have a trapped nerve of some sort in my foot and i'm limping everywhere, I'm getting terrible indegestion, which is so bloody painful, see what a baby am I!

Indegestion and I can't cope! I went aqua natal on tuesday which was really good and she said a very valid point, even though the pain will be unbearable we get the best result at the end of it!

Not like tooth ache where theres no reward!

I went to see midwife for my 39 week appointment and i was convinced shed moved down more but no only 4/5 engaged still!

I was convinced something was going to happen last night as I felt wet down below, thought my waters had gone but no just more plug, quite a lot though!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you hun, and me!

Emily and 39 week old girlie bump
