this post isnt very pleasant - I apologise in advance ..

I had A sweep done yesterday afternoon and had what I beleive is my show a few hours ago ...

basically its quite dark brown and very mucousy, theres also little clots in it which I assume is tissue from the cervix .. its mostly when I wipe after going to the loo and is still happening now

I wanted to ask whether anyone elses show was like this ( Ive always expected it to be pink ) and how long after did you go into labour ?

when I had my sweep yesterday, MW said that my cervix does look favourable and she wrote 2cm dilated in my notes which confused me as I thought that I would have had contractions before dilating that much ????

I still haven't had anything except BH and some diorreah, which could be anything. I have to wait 12 days until they sweep me then another 2 days to get induced which takes me to 42 weeks if baby not come by then. I dont understand why i seem to have to wait soo long, ive been pregnant since the end of July and my pelvis is soo tight and heavy i can barely walk, dont know how im going to last another 11 days!

Its only since Ive had the sweep - apparently shows are common afterwards.

You have to wait 12 days for a sweep ???? that seems a very long time - if i were you id push it hun, just stress how uncomfortable you are - that really doesnt seem fair to make you wait that long

so i took your advice today as my spd is getting worse and worse and went to the hospital and demanded a sweep. They monitored me for a bit and said the machine was showing up tightenings which i couldn't feel. I have had strong BH and wanted one there to see what the machine said but typically I didn't get a strong one. The doc said my cervix is thinning and the head is very low which is why my spd has got worse the last week. He said i was only a finger tip about 1cm dilated though and that to still come in next tues for another sweep if nothing has happened by then. My induction is on the 8th May at 42 weeks but having an induction with spd is more painful then natural labour so I hope I get to meet my little man before then! I have only had a bit of clear water come out of me since the sweep, it wasn't enough to go through to my jeans but enough to feel wet and change my underwear! So nothing has happened so far.

It did take about 24 hours for me to get a proper show afterwards so dont be disheartened yet.. who knows .. u could go into labour tonight, I have read quite a few birth stories where ladies have gone into labour in the night without any real contractions or signs during the day .

not sure about the show i had mine whilst i was in labour with the last one my hubby said looked like a purple poo * sorry tmi* but i was 2cm dilated for a week before i was induced you can be dilated without having contractions, maybe you've had them but they have felt more like braxton hicks? i went from 2cm to 4cm in about 5 hours was having contractions but no pain the most bizarre thing ever! hopefully itll all start soon good luck xxx
