Hiya Ladies,

I hope everyone is doing well. I am desperate for someone to give me the magic answer to my problem. Well Aiden is now nearly 5 months old (cant believe how quickly the time has gone) and I know he is starting to teethe but his sleep is so disturbed I am at the end of my rope.

I posted a few weeks ago and was advised to give weaning a go, and I did and it helped settle him for a few nights then it all went crazy again. He used to go from 10pm til 4 or 5am now he goes from 10 and is awake for a feed at 2am, awake at 3.30am because his dummy has fallen out then awake again ready to get up and screaming for attention at 5am!! He then refuses to go back to sleep!

I was wondering too, how much food you are giving your little ones? Aiden is offered a bottle at 7am but he only ever takes 1-2 oz, he has 6oz bottle and half jar of food at 10.30am, half a jar of food at 2pm (and we are trying to get him off his bottle at this feed and try him with water or juice but he's having none of it), then at 6 he has 6oz and half a jar. He goes up to his bed (we've finally moved him into his own room now and it's going well really) and he is asleep between 6.30 and 7pm. Thing is he sleeps pretty much undisturbed from 7pm til 2am, as we dream feed him at 10.30pm and he normally has another 6 or 7oz.

But he will not settle well after 2am. I was thinking about changing this feed to water and hoping it will help him sleep through!!! I dont know if he's eating too much... not drinking enough... not sleeping enough during the day or sleeping too much... I've tried all sorts of combinations and nothing is making it any better. He normally has between 2 and 3 hrs nap throughout the day, only 20 -30 mins at a time tho.

Sorry this is so long but I am looking for any advise anyone can offer... at this stage I am willing to try anything!!! Do you think 6.30-7pm is too early to go to bed??? Do u think he's eating too much? he was 18lb 2oz at his last weigh in 3 weeks ago,

PLEASE ANYONE... HELP HELP HELP!!!!LOL

Thanks
A very exhaused Aimee & Aiden 20wks 1 day!!!!!

Olivia went like the same. She slept from 7.30pm ish - 7am from 10wks. When she got to bout 14/15wks she started waking again at 3/4am for a feed.
So we decided to wean her at 15wks. (she has been on a rusk before bed since 11wks) It did take another few days for her to start sleeping through again.

This is what we do.
7am feed (anything upto 7oz)
bout 8.30am ish half jar of breakfast baby food
11.30-12.30 half jar food n half jar of dessert (wont have a bottle, water or juice)
3.30-4.30 bottle (anything upto 7oz)
7.30-8.30 bottle, bath then rusk (now has oz n half with a rusk n half)
then she goes to bed.

every so often she does wake for a dummy. sometimes for a bottle but we try and get her straight back to sleep... even if its just for 10mins we keep pushing her. Most of the time she goes back and doesnt have a bottle.

My cousin who is 6months is only just starting to sleep through. My aunty got told to give him water when he wakes and that has helped. He is also on solids as they cant seem to fill him!! Also on 9oz milk!

If you can try and get him to go to bed later. Make him wait that bit longer at night even if it is 10mins... thats how we started.

Have you tried a comfort blanky?? That helps Livvy in the day.

Also if you are really desperate then co-sleep with him.

Hope this helps.

Hi Aimee...you do sound as if your soo trying your best...its hard to know about the feeds..trial and error I would say as its my first Im not sure. Some of the other girls should be able to help you out more there. But what I would say is I would think 6.30/7 is a bit early for him to go to bed, try keeping him up later ...try a nice lavendar baby bath with half of his feed before it and the other half after it and maybe a bit of baby massage at bedtime to send him over. Good luck!

tc Sharon 22wks today xx
